That's why I made a public request that all four be banned permanently from this forum. ! .
.....
1) Hooooold on there Chip... Believe it or not Nutech / AKA SAV are/were made by Nikkodo- one of the ORIGINATORS of karaoke music production. They may be crap, but they were licensed, at least back in the day.. 2) Moon, since I'm not generally known as someone who flames, insults, or violates any other TOS on ANY forum ( I've never even gotten a single warning since forums of any kind even existed), I truly wonder at your request. Other than occasionally disagreeing with you ( and also occasionally agreeing with you), what would be your motivation? The debates themselves? The the four you mention ( including me) are certainly vocal about our beliefs, we are also certainly not alone. What was your goal? Peace & quiet? In a LEGALITIES forum? This is a place to get information- from ALL points of view. I MEAN that, which is why I have made a point of contacting some of those on the "other side" away from the forums. If I knew what it was about me that you found offensive, I might be able to avoid it in the future...

The Milleniums are questionable. The DK SCDG's that so many people recommend are flat out piracy. The Millenium sets were still licensed through DK. It was their last hoorah combining their Applause, Encore & Premier series together. The SCDG's I would say yes - illegal. Well I still have my DK set of cdg's and use them I remember when I bought them thier was not many choices available back then. Pioneer,DK and Nutech If I remember correctly Sound Choice was not available then. I do agree that the SCDG's are not legal a whole set of DK for around $100.00 Hmmmm.

All of my original Nu-Tech discs from 93-94 all have completely different addresses & not one mention of BMB/Nikkodo until some years later. Again I do remember they were sued by Pioneer (and I believe SC as well) for copping music tracks on their first releases. I have a few songs if you listen to them side by side between the manus, you couldn't tell which was which.

In my opinion, DK's reasoning for leaving the U.S. had nothing to with ABKO, but it did regarding licensing. Other U.S. suppliers (like All Hits, Dangerous, MM, SC, etc.) weren't licensing tracks, but putting them out as fast as they could. Like it was a race who could put out the more popular discs of artists. DK left because these "cheaters" were diluting the market - how can you sell a licensed disc if your competitor puts out the same songs 4 months before you because they are unlicensed? DK quit because U.S. suppliers wouldn't abide by their own laws in the U.S. Daiichi Kosho operated a studio in New York - where the music was made - encoding and synchs were done in Japan. This studio did more than just produce karaoke tracks, it was a recording studio for artists like any other. Confirm this if you like with Peter Kartis who said: Quote: "I learned my recording skills at a Japanese studio called Daiichi Kosho, DK Studios in Manhattan, which were the old Sigma Studios. They recorded karaoke music." Tarquin explains, "it was a perfect environment to learn engineering and production. You take the most famous recording in the world, and it's an exercise in recreating the production. It isn't the most artistic thing, but in terms of purely learning the craft of engineering, that's a good way."

If you guys/gals weren't notified of the change and it's not very prominent on their website how is the general public to know about the certification program or anyone looking to get into the business to know what to do or what's going on? And the answer to this one was no one on the Certified list was notified of the change or that they would either be required to submit $199 to continue on their anniversary date? I think it would be more effective to stop it at the source, which isn't as hard to find as one might think -- you just have to be willing to look. They are not. They are interested (to use SC's own words);"in turning pirates into customers." Therefore, it's a pretty safe bet to say that they need these hard drive sellers to make more "customers" for their forced sales ploy.

Earthling12375....you would be surprised how much time is devoted to hunting down pirate HD sellers...the problem is that in order to fully prosicute it takes FBI involvement and that takes time...... here in Fl but it took over 2 years

Hook, line and sinker. Notice that if you have SC's trademark on thousands of tracks on a hard drive... and even publicly sell them... there's nothing that can be done unless the FBI gets involved... But it seems to be perfectly profitable for SC to chase down and file a lawsuit against a single KJ that isn't selling anything and may even be (as they call it) "legal." What does that tell you?

and cheaters are not diluting the market now? how can they sell a licensed disc if people are just downloading them for free? does that mean they DK is blaming someone else for their inability to make money? Sounds like they made it to the brink all by themselves and didn't need any help. But obviously, it's a problem they feel they can't fix themselves through their own talents.... sound familiar?
