IMO it was very fitting to have Inspirational week during 9-11! Good choice everyone! I want to thank everyone who participated. I sure enjoyed listening to the many great Inspirational tunes! We sure had some beautiful songs subbed!
Again, please let me know if you do not see your favorite Genre, I cannot please everyone all of the time, but I will be as fair as possible. And keep the ideas rolling for new ideas (i.e Gender Bender)..I am working on incorperating them in!
Please remember, if a Genre has already had a week, It won't be back in the vote for a month.
Keep voting, but more importantly...KEEP SINGING....and listening!

My problem is I really don't know what songs go under some of those genre's...I mean oldies and 80's well that is pretty easy as is Showtunes. and Country and I guess Folk..but like Classical I have no idea what songs would be considered Classical and even though I voted Popular I'm note sure what that is....and while you're at it could someone help me with Hip Hop, Rock, and Metal...HELP!!

Re: The current poll
I don't see a difference between hip-hop and rap.
Re: The Thread
Maybe a guideline to determine what each genre would cover? Some songs will fall into more than one category, but clearly defined categories would help for some ppl.

All - remember, there are some real nice ballads in the metal genre (if you aren't inclined to bang your head).

Just remember, whatever wins, EVERYONE is "stuck" with it (o.k., I know it is only a featured genre which means nothing--- but I'll be looking for your guys' METAL subs).

OK DyingMoose...if this Classical genre wins...can you just kind of give me an idea of what kinds of songs this would include??? I realize that if you give titles it will be a race to who gets it up first ...but, I need HELP!!!!...and to start looking, just in case

Looks like Metal is edging it's way out front. This one should be challenging for us girls. This genre is pretty male dominated. Glad I specialize in gender-bending. As a reformed Metal-head I think I can come up with something. Whatever the genre (even classical) I will try to find something that fits and I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you who enjoy playing ths game. It's always interesting.

Yes, male dominated.... but plenty of songs for women to do as well....
Besides, most of the guys in metal have pretty high voices. But if you're stuck (assuming it wins) - try looking for songs by:
Lita Ford (yea! Metal chick!)
Vixen
Saraya
Phantom Blue
Smashed Gladys
Joan Jett
Joanna Dean
Witness!
Lee Aaron
Doro
Girlschool
Joal
ENVY
Zed Yago
Princess Pang
(BTW, all the above are listed on the album Metal Queens - Women in Rock)
As for some guy bands that you might be able to find and sing:
Cinderella (Bad Seamstress Blues - love the change up and 12 string)
Scorpions
Poison
Guns and Roses (he has a few songs that are pretty high - Patience, Knockin' on heavens door)
There's a lot of music out there that will work for this genre - for both the guys and the gals. woohoo!

thats a great list k- meister.....I recently bought the difinitive book for heavy metal fans calles "The Encyclopedia of Heavy Metal"....it is a huge book packed with so many bands its insane....i highly recomend it for anyone that wants a killer coffe table book on the genre....just so some of you know the term "heavy metal" is a very vague term when describing many bands...as we move on in society, what used to be a very underground style of music exploded into a pop phenominon (we need a spell check here phill) anyways by todays standards of what defines heavy metal, here are the top 15 best selling metal albums of all time..you might be surprised at the sales numbers....not a lot of people will say they are metal fans but they all own these albums (or most of em)
you may also be surprised at some of the bands that are classified metal by the industry....
1. Led Zepplin lV 22 million
2.ACDC Back In Black 19 million..........63 million total records
3.Guns And Roses Appetite For Destruction 15 million.........35.5 mil tot
4.Led Zepplin Physical Graffiti 15 million...........105 mil tot
5.Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet 12 million........33 mil tot
6.Def Leppard Hysteria 12 million........32 mil tot
7.Led Zepplin Led Zepplin 2 12 million
8.Metallica Metallica (black album) 12 million......48 mil tot
9.Led Zepplin Houses Of The Holy 11 million
10.Aerosmith Greatest Hits 10 million............63.5 mil tot
11.Kid Rock Devil Without a Cause 10 million
12.Led Zepplin 1 10 million
13 Van Halen 1984 10 million............50.5 mil tot
14 Van Halen Van Halen 10 million
15 Def Leppard Pyromania 9 million
and the book lists essential metal albums as
black sabbath heaven and hell
slayer reign in blood
metallica master of puppets
judas priest screaming for vengeance
deep purple made in japan
rainbow rising
led zepplin lV
acdc back in black
other bands considered metal
iron maiden
ratt
motley crue
poison
kiss
quiet riot
twisted sister
ozzy osbourne
skid row
queen (yes queen)
alice cooper
cinderella
blue oyster cult
dio
whitesnake
warrant
scorpions
so as you see it is not that narrow of a genre...what some would consider rock is actually considered heavy metal by the record industry....i hope this theme wins cause there are not a lot of people who do any of these bands and it truly would be a challenge for most and that is what makes themes fun...boy dont i know it from when i did shania twain for gender week......
