Shepardk, you subbed a song called Whatever We Imagine, which was an original, and I can appreciate people making mistakes. But when I went through the sub comments, I got really p****d looking at your replies

Sheree! This was one of my favorites.I've been singing it for years at private parties, Shows, and Weddings. So I had alot of practice...

Hard work & practice paid off.

and I am happy to share in this great art

Subbing a wrong song is one thing and could happen to all of us, but then taking the credit for it as well............ that is evil. If (name with-held, we both know who) didn't call you on this stunt you pulled, would you have admitted to the mistake?

don't count on me listening to your subs. You've most certainly lost my trust. And now suddenly your profile has disappeared?!?!?!

I just read Ken's explanation in that last sub. Why didn't he or his wife point out the mistake earlier after subbing. Surely everyone listens to their own subs after they submit to hear if all is well! I can't imagine them continuing to sub in error. Maybe it was an honest mistake but I still don't get it! :?:

We subbed once without listening and after a few comments we realized it didnt have the music with it  needless to say, we always listen right away after submitting now.

When everyone was questioning whether it was him or not, you would think he would listen to it then before assuring that it was him!
I don't get it either.

I think everyone needs to calm down... the problem has been corrected. And the person subbed a good song that he did indeed sing.

I almost did the same thing once... once! :)

but continuing to slam them, even after they've corrected the problem sure seems a bit overboard. "Not supporting them"?? what's up with that?

Jeez guys, it's just people singing. Some people don't even like to be ranked because many people take it too seriously. If I sub something that sucks, I wanna know about it. I'm not out to win anything or be the best of the best. I hear people sing better than me all the time. That's just plain ol' talent and genetics at work!

I'm just happy to be here on this ol' blue marble called Earth!

That has absolutely nothing to do with the price of eggs. It's not just people singing. It's about taking someone else's song, and taking the credit for it. Not once, but twice in a row. By God, we've had all these honesty talks and legallity issues about CD's on this site until I wanted to throw up, but this is acceptable?!?!?!?

Almost being the keyword, and now I ask you, if it would have happened, would you have taken the credit for it?

I'm kinda sitting on the fence on this one.

I am inclined to beleive that it could have been a mistake for two reasons.

1. It's just my nature to be trusting and give people the benefit of the doubt. (of course I get taken advanatage of all the time)

2. I can't figure out for the life of me what someone would have to gain other than the satisfaction of know that he was able to dupe all of us karaoke-heads

I listened to his new sub and (if it really is him singing this time) he sings pretty good so why not just sub his own in the first place?

There does seem to be evidence that he did this on purpose too. Which I find offensive mainly because I bought it hook, line and sinker along with some other members of this site. Lack of motive doesn't always prove innocence. It's hard to understand what motivates other people to do stupid things.

I find the whole explaination to be very thin. It really doesn't add up.

I guess we'll never know but I, for one intend to be very wary of him for now.

so be wary...

but is this really worth all this angst?

There are certain singers I won't even listen too... doesn't mean that I'm going to sit here making names...

don't like it... move on! It's a simple philosphy.

But my biggest thing is... he's corrected his mistake... You could easily be looking at the wrong scenario guys. And by doing that, you risk alienating a person that is an assett to the Showcase (now).

Hi friends:
Since I was the one that caught this double mistake (as shown in my replies to those subs) I think it is proper to let you know the facts from my perspective.
Three nights ago I listened to Shepardk's Whatever We Imagine and the other one close to it. Right away I recognized the voice as being from one of my all time favorites, James Ingram. On the first one I commented: "Could it be James Ingram?". Never got a reply but he replied to others getting full credit for the singing.
Then I moved on to the next one, Whatever We Imagine and I couldn't believe that it was hapenning again. So, I listened to the original which by the way, I know by heart and studied both for over 1 hour. Shepardk's sub was also the original recording. I posted my comment stating my findings and at the same time sent him a PM to try to find out what was going on. I also informed most of the members that commented on that song because they had a right to know about it. Finally, this morning there was an apology and explanation on my personal e mail and another one just now when I got back from work.
I believe I am a fairly decent christian individual and so I believe in second chances.
The facts are there and everyone is entitled to form their own conclusions and act accordingly.
The challenge for all of us is how to move on from now on.Lets learn from this experience and let us apply certain guidelines to follow when submitting songs.
For example:
a) Let nobody else do it for us and if for some reason it has to be done by somebody else , then, lets us have the power to double check the work before it is submitted. Shepardk can testify to the kind of shame that this could bring our way if done incorrectly. After all, only the whole world could know about it.
b) The reply to the comments should be saved until we are able to do it ourselves.IMO, this contact between members, the exchange of ideas, opinions, feelings, etc... is the most enriching aspect of this great site. Let's keep it real :!: and ALWAYS HONEST:!:
c) If mistakes are made, be quick to fix them. The longer it takes, the more doubt grows.
Now Shepardk or should I say Electriken, let the games beguin, have fun and play ball :!: :!: :spin:

I am not pointing a finger at Ken.... but submitting an original song is something that has happened before and it will probably happen again... who knows what the motivation is... could be just the fact that someone is lonely and wants to be accepted in this great community of people....it's certainly nothing for us to feel embarrassed about being dupped... we all take each submission at face value... and assume it is legitimate. How can we possibly know otherwise? I will say this.... I am grateful to the sharp and swift action taken here by Tonmay... who caught this "mistake" .... this is a tight knit little community and I'm sure glad to be a part of it! We all need to look out for each other....

The world if full of unscrupulous people and it is always a good idea to be extra careful about giving out any personal information about yourself over the internet! I guess that is obvious and goes without saying... but I'm sayin' it anyway! There are people out there who wanna cash in on your dreams... so be careful of anybody who portrays themselves as someone in the "biz"... etc.... again.... not pointing a finger here! Just sayin'!

Happy singing everybody!!!

Well, don't count on me to support this Ken guy!!

First, he knew what he was doing all along & he even took the time to reply to all the nice comments he got, so of course it's an accident

We're all here to have fun and to learn from each other, so NO I have nothing to learn from him and I have no intention to even listen to his sub's!!

I wish to thank tonmay for bringing this up to our attention, I knew you had good hears but now I'm really convinced!!

Let's keep our precious time recording a new song so we can all share :P

you know, it's comments like these...

forget it. I'm outta here. You guys can just take this site. The man apologized... and now we're all polorized on this issue. Now some of you won't even give the guy a CHANCE!

well count me out. I won't be a part of a group that's this way. I thought we were all here for each other.

If I want to see adults fighting, I can go to PLENTY of places on the net.
