Question for you: When you *unlock* a song, where does it go? Does it stay on the CB drive or is it transferred over to the directory that CH searches? I know CH imports from one drive/folder only so I hope I won't have to import from the CB drive every time.

For example I created a folder "chartbuster HD unlocks" on my Laptop within my Karaoke folder

My drive arrived last Thursday. Upgraded Compuhost (dumped my dongle in the process) and used it all weekend. Awesome! I had several requests for newer country songs I didn't have and was able to unlock them on the spot.
The only thing is that my show laptop took a good four or five seconds to unlock the songs and during these few seconds the main monitor and lyric monitor would freeze. I am sure it is because my show machine is several years old and not up to Compuhost spec. It has never been an issue until now...guess I need to look at getting a faster machine. Overall I am very pleased!
Observation: Some of the unlocked songs had my KJ Pro serial number displayed through the whole song at the bottom in a small font. Others just showed a quick slide at the end, like song credits. Odd, couldn't see any rhyme or reason to it.
I plan on experimenting with moving the songs this week to consolidate hard drives and will report back....

I received mine as well. Works exactly as advertised. I'm amazed by the speed of this thing. Literally, within seconds, you can unlock a song and have your singer singing it. Another awesome product from Invicion.

I'm curious. Does the serial number show up if you move the song to a different computer?

I have another question on the subject as well.
What is the ratio of songs that are on the HD unit versus the songs that are on all of the 450 sets? Is it worth it to me to add this drive?

I was almost positive you had an inside source at CB you could get that info from? Anyway... after a little googling I come up with the following: The 450 sets have 450 songs per set. To my knowledge there are only 10 of those, so that's 4,500 songs. The HD currently has 11,547 tracks so that's 7047 tracks that aren't on the Essentials (1-10). Not to mention all their new monthly content will be available for download to the HD as it comes out as well. So if its worth it I guess would depend on your own current and future needs.

Turns out the system first scans the file to determine if the serial number would interfere with any onscreen lyrics during playback, if so the serial number will be displayed only on the Title or License screens. Sure enough, if you observe the songs that the serial number is not displayed during the entire song, you'll find somewhere where the lyrics occupy the same screen area where the serial number would be. They said that during field testing, they tried displaying it only on the screens that it would fit, and hiding it on screens it wouldn't, but the flashing on and off proved to be an unwarranted distraction to some singers, so they opted to just not show it until the license screen in these cases.

I really didn't want to bother Debi with the question in that I wasn't sure that I wanted to purchase it. I actually have 10 of the E450 sets and another 10 or 12 of the EP 100 song sets. Still way shy of 11,000 and a possiblity for future expansion.

OK, test complete! I copied the entire "SAFEFILES" directory from my KJ-Pro drive to my larger main USB drive. I tried a few combos, and it appears it must be named the same (SAFEFILES) and in the root. Fired up Compuhost, it found the songs, unlocked one as a test and all is well! Success! So it IS possible to move the locked library wherever you like. Now the original KJ-Pro drive will go on the shelf in my office as a backup and I can carry everything (Karaoke, KJ-Pro Locked Files, Regular Music, Video's, etc) on one drive! Awesome. earthling12357 wrote: I'm curious. Does the serial number show up if you move the song to a different computer? Yes, it becomes a permanent part of the actual file. hiteck wrote: Not to mention all their new monthly content will be available for download to the HD as it comes out as well. That's why I did it. I already have E1-E10. But now, instead of having to buy a monthly Country and monthly Pop update and all the filler/fluff that comes with it, I can just unlock the songs I need. It will be MUCH more economical in the long run. This is a fantastic idea and I can only hope that Compuhost is approaching the other manu's to do the same thing!

Thanks Bazza, I may look into it as an add on to my system and not the second system. System two is running with nothing but the E series and misc. (throw aways) ie: BS, SGB, etc.. I am looking to add the GEM series to it if I get it booked on a regular basis.

This will be my next purchase as I was about to buy the CB June release, now I don't have to. Has anyone added the whole CB database to their songbook? If you keep your credits stocked, you feasibly HAVE all those songs anyway....right? (nope).

Yes, you can list all of the songs in your book (you can export the list as csv from within the KJMP management console).

There is a feature within Compuhost (a bit hidden) that will export the entire contents of the KJ-Pro drive to a .csv file which you can then import into FastTracks, Excel or just about any program.
