Um, I think I disagree with the phraseology here, Earthling. Apparently the the customer DOES know how to sing it, because he/she asked for it to be put in their range.

While I wouldn't re-start a song if it's halfway through because the customer THEN decides they want it changed, if it was SUPPOSED to be changed in the beginning, then it is the KJ'S fault if it wasn't. Usually in this case the mistake will be caught early on, and a re-start is only fair. It also keeps the customer happy.

Agree here if it was asked for ahead of time and I missed it, it will be restarted. If it is something they were singing halfway through, I will drop when requested & get them on track in the new key. Always try to change key's in a singing break if possible and on a beat to make it sound more natural.

I won't restart any song if they are more than a minute into it.

I kind of figured that, which is why I mentioned phraseology, not content....

I got a KJ Friend where if there is a holiday the day after her show, she will call it D-Bag __day. For example on 4th of July was Monday it was D-Bag Sunday where the non regulars usually come to a karaoke bar to sing the obvious songs that make the other d-bags hoot and holler. So to help this predicament we regulars take the sting and do those songs (and give it some justice) on the first and second rotation while she also plays other cliched songs between singers. Problem solved. It deters them from singing and just stick to drinking and playing pool like they normally would do. And actually it's funny that I haven't sung Possum Kingdom and Aenima (no knock on you hhb) in a long time because they're played out and only for the one's who aren't regulars to scream it.

Um, .....whoops...... Not sure that would be part of a standard KJ's business plan.. Lucky she likes you "regulars".

BTW- Are all you Regulars very good singers?
