I don't like the ignore button idea either. (although sometims I wish I had that option in real life) I think we've been very sucessful working out our problems and differences it the past and with more people coming to this site there are bound to be conflicts. I think I'm gonna enjoy having more people to disagree with. I know that we've all been very comfortable with the small group of regulars, we feel like a little family here and it can seem threatening when the family gets bigger and we're dealing with people we don't know I hope that the newbies to this site will eventually come to be thought of as family and friends. There is enough room on this site for all of us and I'm looking forward to getting to know the new people better.

I for one would hope that good judgment and self-discipline would be enough to warrant not having to have the "Ignore" option. If something is said, or is downright disrespectful, then some sort of censure procedure should be in order (IMHO).

Just my $.02 worth.

P.S. I hope you guys didn't have me in mind for this post--- I know I'm off the wall, but I try to be respectful of everyone. I probably have said things in the past that I really didn't mean, just that I was getting frustrated in terms of posts which I put a lot of work in and I thought were being deliberately boycotted (I just have to realize that there are not that many people interested in the genres of music that I happen to be studying).

Well now , I sure Can't speak for Steven , but my guess is that he just came up with the idea and posted it , as we all have been trying to do...(Throw around ideas , that is) Web Guru Phill hasn't been around for a lil' while so I think Steven may have seen a post from Phill earlier and decided to post his idea , I'd bet it was just a coincidence that the timing looks odd. but I'll wait to hear more from Steven. I do hope he can explain it further! I got a PM from someone about this - not on this board - that sounded so off the wall, I couldn't believe it! And that made me paranoid... Speaking for myself, I've felt very welcome here! I actually registered here back in May but had never posted - just lurked. I've always enjoyed coming here and reading the forums and I feel like I already knew you guys when I finally learned how to post! So anyway, I hope more light is shed on this subject... :?

Well.. I guess I'll just add my lil' ol' opinion just for the heck of it. I too think that although I sometimes would have liked to block some knuckleheads that I've encountered in the past, I think this kind of implementation would do more harm than good. It will only stir up bad feelings and resentment, and kinda goes against the premise of this kind of site, where you are bearing your art out there for ALL to see and comment on. As much as it hurts to get some bad comments or stupid comments, they are as much entitled to their opinions (bad or good as they may be). To limit who can comment on what, would be folly, and kinda unfair in my eyes. YES, it SUCKS when you get one of those knuckleheads on your page, and I'll admit, yea.. it hurts too a little, but than you put it into perspective and realize that they are only words after all, and there are always good friends here who are on our side, and who appreciate what we do. If you don't like what someone says.. just agree to disagree with them, and move on... I, although am new in a way to this site because I had been more sporadically involved in the past, have been a member for quite a while and I like the way this site has come along. It will be nice to call this my new singing home base :)

Just to clarify, this was a subject that was brought up in the past and I being the lazy man that I am by nature... Just ignored it.

Steven always being up on items, pointed it out again... I don't think he was pointing fingers at anyone directly, just the idea...

Some people have wanted the ability to prevent someone else from commenting on their songs

In the begining we had a few trouble makers who for whatever reason liked stirring up trouble. This unfortunately caused some "bad blood" between members. However, I have found that time usually weeds out those type of people.

As far as, the "newbies" to the Singer's Showcase - Many of these people have been registered members with Karaoke Scene for awhile. So actually they are just returning and becoming more active.

Singer's Showcase is a relatively new feature on this site (12/2003.) Although something that has been in the works since back in Oct 2001* when I became the webmaster. I** finally was able to construct something that could be used effectively.

In all truth this is a work in progress. I am constantly tweaking this or that, trying to make this site and all the features better and more user friendly. I welcome all ideas and suggestions for improvment.***

I think the fact that we have the freedom to listen or not to listen is enough and no need to have this option!

I'm trying to listen to more people but it's always a question of time, but what I can say, lot's of talented people in here!!

The ratings are not important to me, of course, if someone tells me he/she gives me a 10 well I'll be happy but it's the comments and the amount of people that listens to my sub's that really mathers!!

*Phil, could you please tell us more about your anniversary like at least the week? I might have a surprised on SS!!

Phil, in all the time I've been on this forum from way back in my lurking days until now - I have noticed that you are a hands on person and active in the life of the forum. You seem like a really great guy and are always there to help someone and I can't imagine all the hard work you put into the forum. Just wanted to say thank you very, very much.

And yeah, baby, I'm ready to party!! We all better start making plans now! Whoo Hooo!!! :rotflmao:

I guess actually I was "Officially" the webmaster in the summer (June/July) of 2001.

The site was renewed and activated at the end of September. See my join date <-- September 28th, 2001!

I also am uncertain of the reprocutions (sp?) of having an ignore button.

However, for those that are interested here is the first one.

Note: this does nothing, so there! :P

Poor Phil, :(

You can't leave us alone for a minute without getting slammed when you get back.

I hope you had a great vacation and I am glad you left your lap top at home. I'm sure your family appreciated that and they matter much more than anything going on here.

I guess it's good to know you were missed and the personal attention you give us is appreciated even tho we may not show it sometimes.

Wecome back

Now get to work and fix all our problems!!!! :x
