I have previously gotten them on ProBurn, but in my last transaction with them I received a shorter disc accompanied by a handwritten note stating that the DK tracks had been omitted from the catalogue (they are still listed on the website though). Are there any websites where you can order a custom disc of DK tracks? I take it DK are now a defunct company.

The brand has been orphaned for quite a while. Old news.

DKKaraoke is far from "defunct." They simply don't do business in the U.S. anymore.

Well it's fairly recently that Proburn have stopped the DK tracks. I ordered a disc from them earlier this year which had them on them. They still offer Music Maestro (another dead brand?) and a whole load of others I've neaver heard of before or since, although they removed Sound Choice a good year back. Anymore sites offer DK?

That is interesting to know, thanks. I'm not in the US anyway.

The brand name is nolonger registered in the states, right? Or maybe I am confusing them with another brand. If i am wrong than I am wrong.

They definitely aren't doing anything as far as releasing music in the US and haven't in years. Song Factory had purchased all the DK titles in early-mid 2000's and re-released under their own label. They have since went out of business (or changed names). DK (DAIICHIKOSHO CO., LTD) is still in business. But no longer in producing karaoke music like they used to. More in the productions/leasing of karaoke equipment to Japan box type karaoke rooms - as far as I could make out on the translated pages.

Even if it's not, it won't do anyone any good. The brand is "DKKaraoke" and alive and well everywhere but here.

I own the url dkusa.com and the U.S. marketing division was run by the late John Kornblum and the company is Diiachi Kosho Limited. Music tracks were NOT "made in Japan." They were recorded in Manhattan at "DK Studios." Graphics and sweeps were added in Japan, discs pressed and shipped back to the U.S. for sale.

No one since has tried putting those CDG graphics in the same way DK did. Many of their versions I find to be canonical, particularly orchestral tracks or those with organ. Their lyrics are about the most accurate, beating SC and CB in that area. Almost all are very singable, with few clinkers that make you go "what was that?"

I know that many singers swear at their key changes and the pan flute, but they don't bother me. I'm not much of a musician, and never had experience with singing before karaoke. If they had skipped the pan flute, added durations, and did dot leaders I believe they would have been considered by everyone to be among the highest quality tracks.

DK tracks are awesome. I have to say that they are much better in a club environment than at home -- you can't hear the pan flute much in a noisy club, but if you're at home recording yourself, it can be quite strong.

Still, as has been said, they are the best instrumentation and the most accurate words.

and worth every penny. in my opinion.

i've been sitting and waiting for an entire collection to popup but it wasn't happening. so i jumped at 1-84.

DK KARAOKE at around 8.98 per disc, each of those with around 18 tracks at .50 per track? Um, yeah, you got a helluva deal!

SC outmarketed them, but hosts who have been at it awhile know of them as the gold standard, and the only company that made discs specifically to help make the amateur singer sound better.

That "pan flute"? It's a low volume melody line recorded in the vocal track. If you can hear it while you are singing, it's because you are singing out of tune- and it's there to help bring you back ON tune.

I have almost every DK disc that they put out only missing 4 of them. They are awesome nice sweeps words are correct and the music is great. As Joe said If you are singing the song in time and key you will not hear the flute. When I first started singing there were only 2 top brands Pioneer and DK. I like both of them only wish I had all of the Pioneer disc as well.

Yeah, having come into the karaoke game, getting the original DK discs has been a long and ardous process. I'm up to 79, and buy them by the disk on ebay when i can.

Most are already recorded a half step down. Bed of roses is actually TWO steps down or a full note! and yes, many people like those disks because they catered to the ametuar singer, and WON'T sing anything else.

A little trick i learned is to use SC if i have it and take it down 1/2 for my DK singers... it usually works. :)

Side Note: I like DK so much that though I already HAVE 1-99, I still buy factory originals in this series simply because I want them rather than my dupes for backups.

The last two complete sets we sold went for $3,500 each. People still want them.

We're not selling any more sets, but we do have a bunch of extra single discs we'd be happy to part with, if anyone wants to complete their set.

Right. Just don't ask for SC discs because they are not for sale.
