WOW! An alaskan!!
The asian place you went to was probably Asia Gardens, and the metal clad one was maybe next door at AL's Alaskan Inn?
Another really fun place is The WoodShed, which is downtown on 3rd Avenue.
When all this madness is over we'll have to meet up and go school some people eh???
I dont know of any girl from North Pole- all of us in the top four were from Anchorage, and they were cutting people left and right that morning.
HUGS!!! So good to meet you!
~Heather

Yep. I think it was Asia Gardens. I actually went to 'House of Al's' last night because they have a good selection. I sang twice but the KJ there annoys me because he uses too much echo and cranks it up in the middle of the song to create different 'effects' while people are singing. He also sings along in the background with many of the people there. Rotation is getting better - the last time I was there it was a fiasco, but it was ok last night.
Asia Gardens was ok, but it's a mix karaoke/dance set and I'm not all that interested in dancing when I go out for karaoke.
I saw a couple places downtown that do karaoke, but didn't know if any of them are any good. I work downtown and I think I'm only a couple blocks from the Woodshed so I might try that tonight (Still have a cold but I'm still stubborn enough to sing a couple songs!).
If you know of any other places in town that do a good karaoke show let me know. I have my gear with me so the selection isn't that critical as long as they'll play my disc (I have about 2000-2500 tracks - approx 225 discs - about to order more).
Hope to see you soon! I'll be more than happy to meet you anywhere you like... I just hate going out to sing by myself - my coworkers aren't that big into karaoke and my fiance gets down here next week (if all goes well with our move from Fairbanks).

We haven't met up yet. I was at the Wood Shed last night. Selection was a little minimalistic but good sound and GREAT people. Met this real nice guy (a regular) named 'Roy' who was incredible. He just belted out song after song... I was VERY impressed.
Still waiting on Heather to sing though....
Of course you're more than welcome to visit tigger! I'd love to show you around some of the karaoke places here or maybe we could get a group vacation rate for everyone and I'll just set up my rig for a karaoke scene personalized gig!

I went to karaoke at the Wood Shed the last two nights and if you're there early there isn't any smoke (nobody's there!).
Let me know how things go in Frisco and when you want to meet up. If nothing else let me know and maybe we can put together a small karaoke party somewhere (I have a full rig and about 2500 tracks).

Buttrfligyrl.
This is a point of ongoing contention between some of the members and the powers that be that run the board (moderators, sponsors, owners, etc). The board doesn't allow the posting of links (the url tag doesn't work properly) and web addresses are often axed. There is a discussion in another thread regarding this and we're eagerly awaiting the final decision and guidelines regarding the posting of web addresses.
I wish Heather all the luck in the world in her trip and performance.

Hi there,
Yeah I saw that one this morning...that's how I realized the link was gone
Will be interesting to see how the powers that be, rule on this. I could swear that Heather's site was in no way competition for the Sponsors on this site...but oh well....maybe they get intimidated easily??
Thanks again and I'm sure that Heather appreciates all the support from the bottom of her heart!!!

It may not be a competition issue but a solicitation issue. They may be worried that if they start to allow people to use this site to solicit they may be opening up the door to some of the slime-bags who prey on people on the internet. I'm sure your motives were purely altruistic, but not everyone is that way and sometimes it's hard to weed out the bad guys from the good so it's easier just not to allow it at all.
I could be wrong.
