Maybe it's just me, and I am making something out of nothing, but I am finding that it is getting harder to read some of these topic threads when "A" quotes "B's" entire post, and then "C" posts "B's" entire post (which included all of "A's" post), and then "A" posts a response by quoting "C's" entire post (which included all of the above mentioned posts again). I am finding that I am reading and rereading entire posts multiple times... especially when "A's" response takes the entire previous text/s, and then puts part of his own response in the middle of the quoted text (as versus at the very bottom).
Can some of you folks please try to ease up on the use of making entire quotes of other posts, and just take the part of the post you need (rather than all of it) to make your point?

Quote: I am finding that I am reading and rereading entire posts multiple times... especially when "A's" response takes the entire previous text/s, and then puts part of his own response in the middle of the quoted text (as versus at the very bottom). Especially so when the "Preview" button is not used to proof-read before submitting. My belated New Years resolution is to cut them down if I use them.

I always confine quoting to one level, ie the single post I am replying to. If on occasion I am quoting more than one post I use this discipline: Quote: Quote A Comment 1Quote: Quote B Comment 2Quote: Quote C Comment 3
Etc... Or spread the quotes and comments over multiple posts of my own depending on forum policy. Some forum software can be configured to automatically trim chains of quotes by either an admin-defined cutoff level or by quoting the core message of the original message and ignoring any other {quote} tags. E.g, if I quote and reply to Message C, then Person 3 wrote: Person 2 wrote: Person 1 wrote: Message A Message B Message C Message D
becomes Person 3 wrote: Message C Message D
Vbulletin does this*, not sure if PHPBB does. *Either that or something similar, don't quote me on that
