I use the USB Soundblaster MP3 device... we occassionally got a hum from the puter before... maybe a bad ground in the electrical wall outlet. Some venues were worse than others..

But with this device, I've not yet had a problem at all!!

Well i found out the problem. I have the Mackie SR1530 witch are powered, someone asked me what cables are you using? I said speaker 10 gauge. (like this) ---> out of the speaker with xlr plug with a 1/4 on the other side(mic cord) then to a female 1/4 then to my 1/4 plug speaker cables then to mixer.

He said you don't use speaker cable with powered speakers, use inline or whatever, they have xlr on both side. The guy said the 1 pin is the sheilding (ground). Well NO MORE HUM :D

Remember I am a bit new to some of this hope you under stand :?

anyone can you explain it better? LOL

With most powered speakers you'd use balanced connections which don't always have XLR. There are also 1/4" TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) connections that can be balanced.

Sounds like you really needed 1/4" TRS (on the mixer) to XLR on the speakers. I needed something similar when I connect my mixer to JBL Eons at one place I was doing gigs.

Get a set of B-52 Matrix 1000 or 2000 sub/sat systems -- ground loop bypass switch free of charge! :P
