Ranger if what you're saying is true, then they wouldn't go to your area because at the moment it's not a huge problem.
I say leave the sticky there.

toqer wrote: Can we unsticky the "SC AUDIT INFO" now? Seems like an overwhelming majority here don't want to see it. I have no problem with a sticky about audit prices if that is what this board wants to endorse. But if that is what this board is endorsing, why only soundchoice? Why not an endorsement or acknowlegement for each manufacturer? Does a stickied post authored by a member who is not a moderator lend additional credibility to all other posts made by that member? Does that also allow that member to edit the stickied post through signature changes giving the appearace that those statements are also endorsed by the forum? Just curius.

Maybe Mr. Harrington could write a new "Audit Info" post & have Athena's taken down. However, it would be nice to also see CB's audit info stickied as well. This is all pertinent information regarding piracy which this forum is about.

Maybe it is too early to tell. Pirates off the streets? No one can come up with any significant numbers of "pirate" that have either left the business or who have had to raise their rates dramatically, and certainly none in any given area. These are the only considerations that would be considered goals in an "anti-piracy" campaign. "The streets" pretty much remain as they always have... Since rather large (defendant-wise) suit has been filed in NJ recently, I will post any changes that would make a difference.

Sticky Robin Gross's article on IPJustice. Sticky Tricerasofts stuff on why his downloads are legal. BTW this isn't an attack on the mods, just a criticism a lot of us share.

And maybe these Manus that are "Offering" the KJ an "opportunity" to be audited, could also explain what they are going to do to enforce the deletion of pirated material that is not from their catalogues. (See Harrington's response to my questions within the previous 2 pages of this thread).

Since rather large (defendant-wise) suit has been filed in NJ recently, I will post any changes that would make a difference. I said Pirates ON the streets. No one can come up with any significant numbers of pirates that have been turned into customers and put back out on the streets, either. So far the official number is 7 out of everyone served. Not saying that all cases are resolved or that some may not have wanted to be on the list. Just saying that there is no proof for the blanket statement that the suits are keeping huge numbers of pirates IN business, either. In our immediate area, our little nest suddenly reduced their songbooks and have all but disappeared and we haven't even had a shot fired yet. I realize that I don't count as a believable source but I will name the numbers as two moved out of state, one quit the business and one got fired. That is 4 out of 6 for us. The remaining two are us and another disc host. A new guy may have started up but I don't know his library status.

I should clarify that northern NJ is fairly densely populated with singers, bars, and KJs. Even if EVERYONE on the list disappeared it wouldn't make a dent, and certainly 2-6 mean nothing.
BTW- The actual pirate that finally got named hasn't missed a step, and no venues have a problem with her, including several on the same night. I know it's too early to tell, but at this point- after speaking to her- she feels it's a joke. She has apparently spoken to some IP guys ( not mine) and they say there is no case. She also deleted all SC ( about 3K of her 54K) and feels comfortable and relaxed. I'll let you know if that changes...

She also deleted all SC ( about 3K of her 54K) and feels comfortable and relaxed. I'll let you know if that changes... I finally ran into a host? who was approached by SC Joe last night! He told me that he was notified by the manu, did not buy the GEM series, and merely deleted the SC from his hard drive. He still has 190,000 songs after getting rid of SC by his own admission. He is still hired and that is the end of it. Makes me pause and wonder just what the crusade to rid the world of piracy is all about? I can't come out and label him a pirate, I have my feeling that he might be, but if SC isn't going to pursue the matter, what's it to me? He hasn't cost me any business, I just went to check out the show, I had one of my rare weekend night's off. He has a following and I guess has been in the business awhile. He said the laptop and hard drive were a birthday present from his loyal fans. From what he told me he has been using it for the last 5 years. From what I gathered there isn't a great enough number of illegal hosts in the area, and the ones that exist have nothing to go after. Therefore it is not cost effective for SC to go after them, of course this is just my opinion. In the past I have suspected some hosts maybe illegal, but like I have said before without evidence I'm very reluctant to label any host with the P of pirate. Usually they don't last in business too long since their product while cheap is inferior, and a great many self destruct. Oh by the way Joe did you get the amp/mixer at Starr, just curious, since I have never dealt with that particular firm?

Maybe Sound Choice could place a running total on the site of pirates forced from the business on a market-by-market basis? It would be similar to the current administration's "Jobs Created or Saved" statistic.
