(really....not a dig) llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll As I just posted on another thread, there is a big difference! By downloading the songs to the drive BEFORE I go to a show, regardless of whether I have internet or not, the song is there for me at the show to unlock with a click of a mouse. About 5 seconds, not only is it mine but it's qued up for the singer who requested it. It's also already in the hard drive of my choice. The system also keeps tracks of my purchases so I can easily reference them later to put in my books.

i download my tracks before i go to my show as well (my venue has 0 wifi? WTF???) and load them on my hard drive just as you do. you download them and pay before you can use them. there is no difference.

The difference is this: KJMP's songs aren't ready before the show to play. Your downloads are.
Your purchases are after the show ends and KJMP's is during the show.

Yes, because I think you are missing something. With the CB / Compuhost solution, you download a generic credit, which can be applied to any of 11,000 unique songs at the time of the show, without touching the Internet. With the other, you need to know the title of the song before you get to the show. That is the difference.

that makes no sense...... not knowing what song someone wants before the show does not make these downloads wrong and CB downloads right. i go download songs on thursday, you go download songs thursday, the only difference is my singer asked for this song wednesday so i got it for thursday with my generic credit which can be applied to any of 59,000 songs. you are downloading everything CB has and waiting for someone to ask for it. i am just a day behind, unless i use my phone as a modem and get it right there at the show.

don't leave yet, no one else seems to understand why a downloaded song is not ok but a downloaded song from CB is ok. god knows i don't........ to download it and have it on my drive without paying for it until someone asks to sing it seems less honest to me than paying for every song i put on my drive, at the time i put it there.

The difference is that the track you download is indistinguishable from the same track that someone else has (paid for or pirated). The KJMP track when paid for with a credit has your unique ID number embeded in it.

The songs are fine either way. It is the method for CB which is better, in my humble opinion. With CB, a beginning KJ can start with ZERO unlocked songs. They purchase the hard drive for $200.00, which already has the songs. They get 50 credits with the hard drive. They can buy additional credits for $1.50 per song. Since you could have up to 70 songs sung in a night, they can buy 100 more credits and now they are out $350.00 total. As the first night unfolds, a number of the old standards are requested by the singers. I Love Rock 'n Roll, Folsom Prison Blues, Sweet Caroline, Rockstar, Santeria, Picture, Summer Nights, etc. You use your credits (150 in total to begin with) to unlock those songs. You end the night with 85 credits, as 65 songs were sung. And they are in your songbook, and searchable in Compuhost to find. You just unlock them. On the second night, many of the old favorites are sung but some new songs are requested, say 30 out of 65. You are down to 55 credits. On the third night, a lot of the regulars sing the same songs, so you only need 25 credits. You are down to 30, so you buy 100 more to ensure you'll be able to service your customers. The only Internet access required is to get more credits, which is virtually instantaneous. No song downloading required, unless you want to get the updates. With Tricerasoft, that first night would be a nightmare. You'd have to successfully download all those songs, and a cell phone wouldn't cut it. You'd need broadband. And if you changed venues and had a new customer base, you could get in big trouble if you didn't have broadband. That's the difference. I won't try any further -- that's my best shot. If you can't see it, I guess you just won't.

I understand everything y'all are talking about but the one fact that confuses me is why CB allows you to use a song DOWNLOADED to their HARD DRIVE in a show but will not allow you to use a song that you DOWNLOAD from their site in a show.
What is the difference? You can't say they don't know who is downloading from the site as you pay for it then and there with a credit card and it is sent to your email address so they know who and where you are!

The difference is the license. But remember, you aren't downloading the song. You are receiving physical media with the songs already on it. And yes, I know you download the updates. But it is to maintain that physical media, and the downloaded song is not usable in that form.

i follow you here, and in that sense i agree, trying to rely on downloads for a new shoe would be next to impossible. i must have mis-phrased my question. i am wondering about the license difference between the download to KJMP and download to my own hard drive. what is the difference. i am not exactly expecting you to know all that, but as the tracks themselves are the same, and delivered in the same method, why is one ok and not the other....what was paid for with the KJMP (on the manu end) that is not paid with other downloads?

mp3+g downloads aren't usable without the right software. KJMP downloaded songs aren't usable without the right software.
I see no difference.
