I'm not that much of a Bill Gates fan, but there actually is no evidence he ever said that. One of the many quotes -- and being somewhat of a quote collector, I have been called on plenty of them -- that are aprocryphal.

Diafel, I agree cell phones, smart phones, crackberries, etc is a perfect example of why technology isn't always better for us. When I go on vacation, my cell stays home.
Like I said technology is great but it is not the be all end all.

Diafel... I guess I'm just an early adopter...
I had my old motorola cell-phone in the early 90's. You remember the "Brick"?
I was running my fledgling bike-messenger company from the saddle of my bike using that thing.
People used to call me just to ask where I was and what I was doing and they got a real kick out of catching me riding in traffic.
I used to grab breakfast in this hotel diner most mornings and when my brick would ring.. the staff would all yell my name because that's how I used to answer the brick.

Diafel, I agree cell phones, smart phones, crackberries, etc is a perfect example of why technology isn't always better for "ME" For some it's EXACTLY why techonology is MANY times better. Which is why I would like to offer that technology to my customers (via kiosk), but it needs to be able to do what I/they need it to do as well (ie singer history).

But it cannot bring up an individual song history of a single person that wants to see it - correct? I can see it will make a table of sorts that I can do it at home - which is what I do now for when they ask for a copy, I need it for them to be able to see it on the screen when they click their name.

To be clear, I was one who embraced cell phone technology when it first came out. In my previous post, I was just repeating what many people told me at the time when it was all new.....

Scroll through their list of songs. [scroll, scroll] #3. Select the one they want. [poke] #4. Give them the option of making any changes... (key change, brand) (a) if "no" then go to #5 (b) if "yes" then poke, poke, poke, poke all the changes. #5. Send the request. #6. Close out this session Seems like a lot of work to me for the user... Just print a "master account book" that they can look up their history with a printed out pivot table... I've been using a kiosk for 6 years non-stop and I've never had even a single person ask for a history - it's just too quick to enter the song in and move on. Does your hosting program have an exportable history?

But it cannot bring up an individual song history of a single person that wants to see it - correct? So you want this to make a singer input: #1. Their unique "user id" [ENTER] - YES, but only if they WANT to utilize a user account, it's not mandatory that anyone has to enter a code to submit a song. If the latter is chose, then they just get the basic database & click the song & submit. If one does choose to utilize it, it would then give the history as an option in addition to the basic search#2. Scroll through their list of songs. [scroll, scroll] - NO They would only scroll through their history when they want - not a requirement to pick a song, just an option for them to utilize when they would like, otherwise, they would enter their song just like anyone else that chose not to enter an ID to store their songs, any song entered with a user code would then store whatever song they choose to their history#3. Select the one they want. [poke] - Like anyone else would, except it will store the selection in their history#4. Give them the option of making any changes... (key change, brand) - Well the history should remember any key change made and brand previously picked before, so no changes would need to be made (a) if "no" then go to #5 (b) if "yes" then poke, poke, poke, poke all the changes. #5. Send the request. #6. Close out this session Seems like a lot of work to me for the user... Just print a "master account book that they can look up their history with a printed out pivot table...p I do that now, but would like for them to have that option on their own. I get asked all the time, remember completely different type of club & singers than you seem to get. Quote: Does your hosting program have an exportable history? It can create a text file of singers history on a per singer basis - which is what I do now when asked, but I have to make a copy of the file & bring it home to print. I cannot export.

Compuhost karaoke kiosk does let them see 100%. Just need to be able to see those locked CB songs from my KJMP

Tricerasoft's kiosk has history as well that will allow singers to look at what they have already sung. Once they get the KMA and the other hoster formats to register, you'll be able to use it.
