Or Best Buy? Or Chevy? Or Chartbuster? Or any one of millions of companies large & small worldwide? Pro Tip: It's called "Marketing". I will match you. I am willing to bet that Wal-Mart "sales" are going to be a little more frequent come December. Those bastards!

Yeah but isn't it funny how it's NOW that they stumble onto these kinds of marketing ploys? I find it rather odd that they never used to and now they do.... Hmmm.....

Absolutely.... wait for the "Buy 2 Gems get the 3rd at half-off!" and other such sales. Interesting that it's been on the market for barely over a year and they've just had their first " price reduced for quick sale" marketing attempt. Like I said; "Expect further pricing "adjustments." Bringing the price back up simply makes those that were on the edge to purchase before but didn't want to jump on the reduction the next time it happens. And it WILL happen...

Except this wasn't a sale to the general public, only to subscribers to the Karaoke Scene digital magazine as they have an ad in there.

SC used to have sales all the time. I took advantage of their offers often throughout the years when I was buying discs directly from them. I see this as no more odd than their disc sales.

Gee if that is true then anybody that gets it could order the Gem Series and they wouldn't have to be a KJ. So selling to only KJ's is out the window.

Drug companies advertise to the masses every day, but just because you received the ad doesn't mean you can trot down to the pharmacy and buy Viagra.

I don't know if it was sent to everyone.
All I know is that the email came to me from Karaoke Scene, not Sound Choice.
Maybe a mod could answer your question. Expect further pricing "adjustments." Yes, price adjusted up from $3,000 to $4,000 for KS readers. "For those not already investigated or named in the first round of lawsuit filings, Sound Choice is prepared to generously offer the rest of the local hosts and venues one final opportunity to do the right thing and pay for their content prior to being named in an upcoming suit. Those who come forth voluntarily will be able to license the entire GEM Series of 6,000 songs for $4,000 (less than $0.67 per song) until November 18, 2011"~ Karaoke Scene Magazine: October 2011, Sound Choice Ad, Page 2 (Repeated in article, Page 17)

Guess this was aimed at KS readers/advertisers because SC knew they were going to persue alot of people active in the area covered by KS. So people were given a chance to get legit before they proceeded. Was reading on Brand X forum that they named several, including a KJ of the Year and someone who was voted to have "The Best Library." Yes, I know being named does not prove guilt but the "Best Library" one seemed a bit ironic.

Not quite, SC before selling will verify that the buyer is actually a working KJ according to SC. Don't take my word for that, call SC and they will verify what I have posted here.

Just curious HOW they verify? Call the bars you work at? Just wondering.
