Hope you guys squeeze in seeing the Redwoods since you made Tahoe. Not that far away from there and he won't be seeing anything like that in England...

Okay--change of plans again--a brand new, professionally installed muffler is on the car so we will dare to cross the border.

Today is the American River and then a Wall of Sound show at Uncle Vinny's Pizza in Sparks NV on the way back. We may need to stop at the Dollar Store for Pink Tutus first.

Sunday, if the car is still running by that time (everyone please knock on wood), we are going to try for Roger Niner in SF. Friday and Saturday we are obligated to show up at the Hell Hole.

That picture is very suggestive.....I sure hope that bear is a female..... :) .....I'm actually bipolar....which means I'd do a polar bear, if she had the right attitude......of course she'd have to be attracted to me.......sometimes bears like to play "hard to get"......

I hear Polar Bears have been known to eat men, but I'm sure that didn't enter your thought process Johnny ;-)

That would be a blast but unfortunately it would require too many coat hanger replacements on the muffler. And don't they drive faster than 35 mph? I was born there but it's been a while.

No worries, mate..
The freeways are down to an average of 25 these days..

And I hear the new muffler (Pun intended).

Aha--last time I was there, they were going 85 with 2 inches between cars.

Yesterday we took an old stagecoach road down to the crystal clear North Fork of the American River. So he has seen at least one nice thing.

Then it was back up to see if Wall of Sound actually had any shows. Proof of our visit will be posted once Jerry sobers up. Wall was out of town but his cohort was very personable and supportive of the singers--this is the second time we have wondered why someone so nice would be associated with Wall.

The Mackie system was there as advertised and much better than the sound at the casino show we had visited. But what got us was all of the SC and CB had been removed from their books and replaced with Sunfly... Okay, okay, not true. Actually I offered to sell the host a hard drive with every SC song on it and had to invoke the name of Wall to keep from getting thrown out. Just testing....

Jerry doesn't sing but he was coerced into singing a Kinks song and "Henry IV" just to show off the accent. There was a young fellow there who was singing Beatles songs and he was thrilled to meet a Liverpool guy and did one of the more obscure Beatles songs for him. There seems to be a young Beatles addict at most shows around here these days.

There was no Newcastle Brown at this place so Jerry was forced to drink something called Sierra Nevada Tumbler. He had several glasses trying to figure out if he liked it.

Then we returned to the car to find one of the dogs had turned on the lights and Jerry got to see an American Auto Club in action as AAA arrived to jump the battery. I have one of those emergency jumper things but it was dead, too. Ofcourse.

Tonight we will be forcing Jerry to work the show at the Hell Hole but as he didn't get a work visa, we won't be paying him.

The American river was fantastic.
We had three dogs with us including the one that likes to redecorate the car.
They had a great time.
She was sure I would meet a Bear there.
She made me eat before we walked.
Guess Bears don't like the English huh.

Anyway on the way back we did stop at Wall's show.
There Lep really did try to kill me.

That book photo was taken with available light and there was some relflection off the plastic cover--didn't mean to make it look moldy........

We have yet another change of plans due to cars and work schedules and can't make it to SF in time for RogerNiner. Plan Z--the house made out of garbage. Photos and details to follow--we are in the whirlwind phase as we try to cram in what we can before he leaves on Wed.

Love that Ranch. Can't get it in England.
Lep has agreed to smuggle it in for me.

I have been getting more telephone numbers.
Have seen some sights I shouldn't have.

Lep has shown me the real American West.
It has been magic.
I have taken hundreds of pictures that will be very precious to me.
When I arrived at the Hell Hole on Friday,
I took a picture of the sky.
She said "That's nothing".

Jerry, now you understand what it means when us Yanks use the term "big sky" in the Western states.

Guess so.
It is now Sunday night.
I am still knocked out.
I am finding things strange.
We went for a mexican tonight.
There was a lime wedged in the beer.
Love Taco's.

Maybe you yanks do have something to offer after all.
Duh!

You can buy a mix that you just add sour cream to. Tastes a treat. Buy a dozen to take back.

He got two 4-packs of Hidden Valley to take back. Then, while we were researching if he would be allowed to bring it in, we discovered that the lack of Ranch in England is a big issue that even has a Facebook page dedicated to it. At least it is a big issue for ex-pats and visiting American students.

Ranch dressing? Too funny!

Nice picture of the sky.

This from Samuel (Mark Twain) Clemens who lived in my hometown for a year.

"And I remember Muscatine--still more pleasantly--for its summer sunsets. I have never seen any on either side of the ocean that equalled them. They used the broad smooth river as a canvas, and painted on it every imaginable dream of color, from the mottled daintiness and delicacies of the opal, all the way up, through cumulative intensities to blinding purple and crimson conflagrations which were enchanting to the eye but sharply tried it as the same time. All the Upper Mississippi region has these extraordinary sunsets as a familiar spectacle. It is the true sunset land. I am sure no other country can show so good a right to the name. The sunrises are also said to be exceedingly fine. I do not know."

We seem to be having that same problem. By the time we get going and get there, it is time to come back. But he did get to see the Territorial Enterprise building in Virginia City where Mark Twain worked for a short time. One of his best friends back home has studied American Literature and he says she will be jealous.

It is too bad this was the budget trip this time around so he couldn't travel to some of the other KJs territories. Out here, even the visitor's guide is mostly filled with things having to do with off road vehicles, shooting things, rocks, photographing sunsets and mostly being within driving distance to someplace else.
