Chartbuster seems to have stopped production of these sets. Some are available at an attractive discount at various places on the net. If you want disks, you might want to buy them now before they're gone.

We have not discontinued this line - normal production for our Essential 450 series is still underway.

Up until very recently, "normal production" was on discs. VERY recently they started using cards. Therefore the question regarding the media was a valid one.

We contemplated sunsetting this line over the summer, but customer feedback demanded we continue production.

We plan to introduce the line on other media in the short term to keep up with current consumer needs, but we feel that digital delivery is the way of the future. Customers want music, not pieces of plastic.

Then why don't you find a way to legalize you digital downloads for Commercial use? I know you are pushing the HD but most of us have most of the songs on it from buying discs. If you would allow us to use the digital downloads in our shows I think (I know I would) buy more to fill in holes I have in my library and even the recent songs being put out.

What you'll have left is convoluted, impenetrable, and brittle enough to snap under the slightest pressure. That's copyright law in the current age.

There are many different considerations with digital downloads for commercial use, and very few of them are even as palatable as the above metaphor. In an age where companies with the resources of Google and Apple are stymied for years on end to get their offers out to consumers, how much harder is it for a company our size? We're not offering excuses, just stating realities of scale.

We're working on it, and it's making progress. About like a glacier does. It will take a global climate change (read: overhaul of copyright law) to make that glacier calve anytime soon.

Your illustrations are quite funny!!!
Global climate is happening at an alarming rate (I know worst drought in Texas history).
Glaciers are melting, SHIFTING, breaking off and floating away at an alarming rate.

Other companies have found a way to get into the bowl of spaghetti and allow digital downloads for commercial use why can't you?

While you have made your point of view clear, it has nothing to do with the question at hand.

CB has only been using cards for a number of months, and since the OP brought up the possibility of the E-450 DISC set going out of production, and since CB only stated that they remain in "normal" production, I was hoping Charbuster would clarify their answer- which they have. Thanks, CB.

Um, as CB just stated, licensing for the use of downloads in U.S. BASED karaoke shows is not currently available.

So, if you were to use them "NOW", then your show would be based on music unlicensed for said use. Up to you, of course...

Digital delivery is still the way of NOW, regardless. iTunes, Chartbuster, Pandora, Sunfly, iHeartradio, Tricerasoft, the list is endless.

CB is correct. Plastic music is now antique and people don't want or need it any more.

Why can you not use the KJMHD to fill in the gaps you have in your library like I and several others do. That is why I purchased it then I can fill the hole as my singers demand it.

First off I have over 300 CB discs and the KJMHD would just repeat all that I have.

Second I don't have Compuhost to unlock the programs and certainly not going to pay $180 just to unlock the songs. With a program I wouldn't use for anything else (I don't like it's features).

Third if their HD crashes you have lost the ability to:
1) Unlock any more songs.
2) Download any more updates to unlock them because as far as I know only their HD can connect to CB to do updates.
3) Repurchase another HD to use any credits you might have left over.

When CB first offered their DL's they said it was OK to use them in a commercial show and then they changed their minds. Luckily I had only DL'd 1 song and now that they changed their minds I don't use it.

There's gotta be a better way!

Technically, isn't it REALLY a digital download if it comes from a KJMHD? It just just doesn't have to travel very far. After all it is "digital" and you unlock/download & pay to play. I am assuming that CB TRULY does condone that kind acquisition of their music to be allowable for commercial use. Seems pretty gray to me and very "confusing". Oh, that's right "confusing" refers to trademarks only.
