And don't forget, the program includes 50 credits (50 songs), so you're really paying around $79 for the drive. A very reasonable deal if you ask me. I can't understand why every KJ doesn't jump on it. IMO it's one of the best investments you can make.
I no longer care how many tracks are on Chartbuster's discs or the cost since I only get what I need when I need them. Just got all the latest additions downloaded to the drive and I'm set to go.
Seriously folks, this is a good deal and Chartbuster's new stuff is excellent quality. I don't see how you could go wrong.

I have had direct conversations with SC suggesting them to provide their content to the HD as well. Even if the cost were to increase having both SC and CB content would still make the HD a sweet deal. Yeah i'm not going to spend needless money on CompuHost just to be able to unlock songs. IF (big IF) other manus jumped on board, I may reconsider and wouldn't mind spending more for the hard drive initially. The cost of the progran @ $179 is cheap when you consider that when you get the discs @ an average cost of $15 each to get the 1 song you want and the rest is just fluff. Even if you choose to run another hosting program, the program pretty much pays for itself in a very short term. CB has made a choice to make their library available like we have all wished (being able to buy just the songs we really want, one song at a time) and yet people object to buying the unlock program to be able to play the song in any hosting program we wish, am I missing something? Not missing anything at all. The CB library doesn't have enough songs for me to warrant spending the money on a program that would only be used to unlock a few songs I might need. I have a good portion of their library already in other manus and the rest of what they have is so few from what I think i'd be able to actually use that it's not worth it. Now again IF it were to have more manus involved, I may reconsider.

Think about it, you could pay a small fee like $40 to activate the software and then they could charge a small yearly/monthly supscription fee for the updates, like they do with their karoke book software.
they would make a heck of a lot more money in the long run, because it would be an option for those who don't want to spend the money on compuhost.
-James If I am missing something Compuhost IS the standalone software and no monthly or yearly subscription fees requires. All software updates for the program are free. So where would the price point be if they were to offer another program to unlock and watermark the songs. Then how much should they charge for the annual updates or renewal fees be. Seems to me you'd eventually exceed the cost of Compuhost. Maybe my jethro math is wrong but I like the one time fee (less than what i make for one night hosting Karaoke).

Personally, I'm on this like white on rice. I've been buying my disc updates at the end of the year to get the best deal on compilations, and updating regularly with Tricerasoft by request.
This seems like the best of both worlds. I have been using Compuhost for years, so this isn't an issue for me.
Haven't been able to get Dirt Road Anthem without buying a $20 disc, and I'm not doing that for one song. i Just the song list and its on there. In fact a bunch of requests I need are on there. I'm sold.

Lonman wrote: So it looks as though they are dropping their tracks again this time from 12 per disc to 8 - yet keeping the price the same. I don't believe that is factually accurate. Here's the announcement we distributed regarding the formatting changes: Dear Valued Customer: Chartbuster Karaoke has always relied on our streamlined production process to bring you charting songs while they are still climbing the charts. It’s a process that we’ve continually refined over the decades we’ve been producing karaoke, and one that has allowed us to consistently release new material at its peak of popularity. It’s always been a hallmark of our brand, has allowed us to get new materials to you many months ahead of other karaoke manufacturers, and is something of which we are very proud. However, licensing issues are keeping us from releasing all the songs that you want in a timely fashion. Though we are submitting our applications for licensing as we always have, well in advance of our planned releases, some publishers are not as responsive as is necessary in order for us to both fulfill the demand for the new songs, and to package those songs in the manner to which you are accustomed. The causes for this are manifold, but can mostly be attributed to drastic changes in the music industry, separate from the karaoke industry, that have occurred in the previous decade. Shrinking revenues have forced most companies to decimate their payrolls, many companies have changed ownership or management, and the corresponding turnover and/or reduction in personnel has impacted licensing in a negative way. This has left us in somewhat of a quandary. We could either hold our discs until such time as the publishers respond, or we can release fewer songs on each disc and still give you the timely releases you want and deserve. Going forward, our plan is to resume our regular schedule of monthly releases, and provide the songs that you want, and for which we are able to secure timely licensing. We have also been producing and manufacturing what we’ve come to call our “enhanced discs” that include both CD+G and MP3+G versions of our songs for several months. The response to them has been fantastic, and it’s become clear to us that MP3+G formatting is something our customers are excited about. Beginning this month, our Country Hits of the Month and Pop/Rock/Urban Hits of the Month will each be available to you in two different formats. The first will be CD+G only, and include eight karaoke (performance) tracks and eight guide vocal tracks. Alternatively, you may choose an enhanced disc version, which includes eight karaoke tracks in CD+G format, and those same eight tracks in MP3+G format. To coincide with the reduction in the number of tracks on each disc, we are reducing the price for our monthly releases. Henceforth, each disc will carry a MSRP of $17.95 and a sale price of $14.95. We’re implementing this change because we believe it will allow us to minimize licensing issues while still delivering the superior quality tracks you want in the timely fashion you need. As always, we welcome and value your input, and if you have constructive feedback on this issue, we invite you to send your remarks to sales @ chartbusterkaraoke.com, where they will be given prompt attention and consideration.

On these enhanced disc's, would I be able to use the 8 mp3+g versions in one computer system then rip the other 8 which are in cd+g format to a second computer formatted system and remaining 1:1? It seems logical since there are 2 copies of the same song on each disc.

Thanks Chartbuster for looking into it.
Also would the same apply with the discs that have a set of 8 songs with guild vocals on one track. Could I just rip the music only track and use in a second system as well? The disc has 2 sets of graphics. Again 1:1

rumbolt wrote: Interesting, but I would think not since the you really can't use the disc for 2 systems to be 1:1 but hummmmm? Actually I was told by someone from CB that I could use one disc on multiple rigs as long as there was only one copy of each track being used. The question was due to multiple tracks listed on more than one disk. Say a country disk contained a Blake Shelton song and I already had on a Blake Shelton CD. I was told I could use the rest of the country tracks on the one system containing the song and the individual Blake Shelton song on another. Still 1:1 in regards to tracks vs copies.

I think before you take hiteck statement to heart, the real question would be who exactly is this someone from CB?? Just playing the devil's advocate. Sorry I don't have the name but it was pm conversation via this forum with Chartbuster Karaoke. I looked to see if I still had the pm, but I must have deleted it. The conversation started as I was preparing to go through their (CB) free audit and before I had everything organized they started charging for audits. In my disgust with the whole thing I deleted that pm. Honestly I'd rather someone inquire for themselves about legal issues than take my word for it....I'm not qualified to give legal advise. I was only passing on what I had been told, and have no problem with anyone wanting additional proof....sorry I dont have any additional info to pass along. Maybe Chartbuster Karaoke will chime in on this.

So out of curiosity, for those with auto-ship subscriptions for the new discs every month, will they still come? I didn't get anything for Sept., ended up buying a custom disc of the Sept releases with just the songs I needed plus a few backlogged requests I had. And almost the end of Oct with nothing yet, when they normally would ship out the first week or two of each month.

Here's the answer I promised you last week - as long as you maintain a one-to-one ratio of songs on disc to songs on shifted media, you are good to go and in compliance with the Media Shifting Policy. This includes instances where the same song appears twice in different file types on the same physical disc. Feel free to shift them individually or together, as you have purchased two physical copies of that song on a disc that contains alternate file types. This includes using them on spatially and temporally separated rigs.

Of COURSE it would cost more money.. But the key word you used yourself is EVENTUALLY. The fact that it would cost more, would be a motivator to actually buy the software. Just like the decision of having to pay for database updates for as long as I use their fastracks or paying the one time lifetime fee *they don't offer this open anymore to the best of my knowledge, i'm glad i took it while i had the change* was a no brainer for me. However there are some people that would rather pay $40 and pay more over time than spend almost $200 up front. Plus there are people who simply will not buy compuhost, no matter how good it is, because they like/are more comfortable with the software they are using. Right now, Invicion is missing out on those potential customers. -James
