I remember reading on here somebody posting about the somewhat dubious quality of the male singer on the "cover version" of the backing tracks on Karaoke-Version.
Well, go to select-a-track and listen to the 30 second sample of "The Diamonds : Little darling" the SBI multiplex version with the lead vocal guide - hilarious.

Now lookie here, in all fairness.....when I recorded that....I was using a voco pro microphone...... cheerios...
Not my words, Just referring to what was posted previously, but I can't find said post. The SBI lead vocal made me burst with laughter... with it not at it.

I use the AudioTechnica AT4040, a RHODE NT2 and the SM58, none of which can make the bad singer in me sound any better! If I had known back then, what I now know about EQing and compressing in particular, I'd have saved a whole lot of money and not blamed the mic for the mud or the lack of brilliance. A Karaoke singer who sings live or posts songs at 128bit or lower, does not need a 500$ mic. There are excellent singers out there who use only a 58 and a Creative audigy. It's not always about how expensive a mic needs to be, it's more important to use what you have skillfully and to mix it all down properly.
