I am in need of beta testers to test out a new stand alone remote request program. This program works with any karaoke program because it is stand alone. Singers can send there requests using any WiFi device including smart phones. It is not an app so it does not require the singer to download or install anything, just simply go to a website, chose their KJ, search for song by title or artist and send. The KJs will need to download and install a small dashboard program to receive the sent requests. I need lots of feedback from KJs on problems they may have in any way, thoughts on what should be added or taken off, and bug reports.
If you would like to help please go to www.Luv2sing.com and click on "I am a KJ" and register & download the program. There are videos on what the program does on both ends and also how to set it up if you have problems.
Any info is appreciated and can be sent to karaoke@luv2sing.com with the subject BETA TESTER and the issue.
Thank you guys for your help!
Kammo

Also if you have any problems let me know here or by email. I forgot to mention the program is free and registration is only for KJ setup. No where will it ask for money in any way what so ever!
If you don't believe me ask Lonman, he has it.
thanks guys! oh and gals! :D

Does the host have to be connected to the net to get the requests?

yes MIKE D. Since the whole system is setup to send and receive from a website, you must be able to connect your (the KJs computer) to the www.

I ran the program and uploaded my song directory... no dice. I checked the site and I don't show up. I rechecked the dashboard and realized that the application requires me to rename my files to track-artist-track.

I have spent years editing and ripping all my files to follow the standard "discID-track - artist - song".

I am not about to rename over 60K tracks to use this.

I'd have to say that the possibility of spamming requests exists as well as the opportunity for people to abuse the system with "joke" requests or signing other people up is also present.

I'm intrigued by the concept. I think it needs a lot more work. I think the biggest barrier to professional use would be the file naming convention. The software needs to be able to identify the correct data regardless of the file naming format being used. Take a look at Compuhost for a list of formats that would be the basis for your system to be able to determine file names.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Just a couple little things for the people helping me out here. If anyone has an issue seeing your name or location coming up on there phone or WiFi device make sure they click the button asking them it they want to share there location or not. This system geo locates where they are from where you are and might not show you if they chose not to share there location. When they do share it and are close to your venue, you should be the first DJ on the list.
Also, I took a picture last night at work to show how I set up my station. In addition to singers being able to send their songs with there phone, some do not have smartphones or don't know how to use them yet. So I set up a cheap laptop I got off Craig's list that is not fast but has WiFi. I open Luv2sing.com on it and choose my location and just leave it on that screen. When people come up to put a song in they can use the laptop to search and enter there song. This works great and frees up sooo much of my time. Plus it allows you to talk to them or help them with it and builds a relationship with your singers. I am adding the picture of my setup with the Luv2sing laptop off to the left. I put it close as to keep and eye on it and to help anyone that might not know what to do.

Actually MtnKaraoke the correct format is the same one you use. Disk-Track - Artist - Title. I do see on the site where it says track - artist - track and that is not correct. Thank you for pointing that out, I will get that corrected. So if your format is Disk-Track - Artist - Title then you are golden. That is the format I use as well. Make sure you are setting up the Schedule Maintenance with your locations or else it wont see you. Also the DJ or location wont show up if the gig is set to more than 5 hours before start.
As for spamming and abuse of the request system, I have not run across this in the year I have been using it. We have added a "Request requires facebook login" feature that you can use to stop abuse from disrespectful people if this is ever an issue. Located in the "Account Maintenance" tab. This requires them to sign into there facebook to submit songs and reveals there identity if they are so bold. The dashboard will show a facebook logo next to there actual name. Like I said this has not happen to me ever. Signing up other people to sing, this is an issue with even slips so nothing new there.
You will notice an option called "Requests by walkup only" in the "Account Maintenance" tab, this is for anyone who wants to stop the submission of requests to the dashboard all together. This is great at the end of the night when you call no more requests. When the singer goes to send a request after you are not accepting any more, it will simply give them a message saying you are only accepting walkups and if they are not aware of you calling no more requests they will come up and ask if you will take another.
I hope this helps and thank you for bringing this error to my attention.

"Also the DJ or location wont show up if the gig is set to more than 5 hours before start."

Does this mean that if I put 4 weekly shows in my schedule, they won't show up until the day of?

Is the idea that the songlist/request is only available "real-time"? Apparently this means 5 hours prior until the scheduled completion of the show. Is that correct?

If that is right, then I would suggest that the songlist and schedule be accessible at all times and the request function be limited to a time-frame that the KJ determines. I open sign-up at a specific time for my shows anyway and actual "show-time" starts when I have 4-5 signed up.

I suppose I could wait half an hour or so and see if my show appears for tonight. I'm not certain, from what you've said, that I will be able to see it because the venue is just a little over 100 miles from my current location. (don't be shocked, Colorado ski country is my stomping grounds)

UPDATE: It works from my current location. How do I change my "DJ handle"? Also why "DJ" instead of "KJ"?

I just redownloaded the new DJ Dashboard & tried uploading my book - and again, it will only accept 355 songs out of 13K.
I won't be able to use this in a show (have tested others that do the same thing) as our internet is so sporadic.
I do use other phone apps however that people are able to look up their books, check in through FB as well & store their songs in a favorites database online that they can access as well.

This is correct MtnKaraoke. But I changed it so from 12 midnight to 12 midnight whatever show you have going on that day will show up all day. You put all your shows in the scheduler but the next show wont show up till the next day. This will allow for singers to see your show, location and books all day for each days show. They will not however be able to see any other shows but today's.

Setting up a specific time "allow requests" is difficult to do because of several different reasons so we have the "walkups only" check box so you can turn this on or off whenever you want and wont be bound by a auto allow or disallow. Just simply check the box and save to stop anyone from sending requests and vise versa.

::Since update::
Ok so you can see yourself now that's great!
As for changing your DJ Handle, this is setup through the registration. Only way to change this is to re register with a different handle. We may change this option later on.
LMAO about the DJ KJ title, I went rounds with my programmer about this and he thought DJ was more universal than KJ. He didnt think new to karaoke world people would understand what KJ meant. Still in the works...

I've been announcing that my book is live on your website...

I don't have internet at my show(s) yet.

I've been looking at a 3G hotspot product that seems reasonable in cost.

I'll have more constructive comments when I take that next step...

Thats AWESOME MtnKaraoke, thank you for doing this! Let me know when you get the internet part of it up, that's where you will see this program come alive and make your nights soooo much more enjoyable. You will have so much more interaction from the singers. Make sure you encourage them to vote on each other through the facebook login. One this becomes a contest between singers and two every time someone posts its free advertising for you and your venue that thousands of people will see every night.
Keep me posted!

I have had a ton of people register for Luv2sing but only a few have written back to let me know what they think or problems they might be having, I would like to know what you guys think of it and if your having any issues with it. Please respond here and let me know.
Also If I could get a headcount on how many people from this forum are using it and like it would be great!

Should I advertise it on the links page here at karaoke scene?

I checked it out and it looked like it's just a short trial period. How much will it cost and how long before a beta tester has to start paying?

I also noticed that your shows advertise 200,000 karaoke songs and 750,000 songs of DJ music. How long does it take to search through that many songs and return a response?

Ok first off why do you think its a "short trial period" where does it say that anywhere? and second, This program is only for karaoke songs so the 750,000 songs of DJ music has nothing to do with this.
As for how long it takes to go through all my karaoke songs, it take about 3 hours less than going through my books if you're just browsing. Most people that go to karaoke know what they wanna sing so they simply type in either the song name or the artist that sings it, or both and after a click and typing in there name, it takes them about 10 seconds to put in a request. I would suggest if someone wants to browse the karaoke music you have just keep the books around for that reason. I keep a couple books on hand for these people and after they look through it they know what they want to sing. Its either not there, or it is and now they wanna request. Either way this makes it easier for them to do from there phone or a side laptop.
Give it a try Earthling... And if you think its a scam to get you to give me money, PM anyone here that is using it and ask them how much they are paying to use it including Lonman, or what restrictions are on it to make it a trial version. Also... if it where going to charge you wouldn't you have to enter some kind of way for me to get the money? I assure you it doesn't.
Sorry, this is just really funny to me...

Whoa, calm down.
It seems like a reasonable question to me.
I watched your youtube tutorial and you repeatedly stated it was a two month trial and that now is the time to get it so you will have time to check it out. I interpret that as after two months it becomes a pay to use situation. If you are not in it to sell it why a two month trial? Perhaps the trial is longer for a "beta tester". I don't know. That's why I asked. It makes sense to me to know the details and facts of an offering prior to incorporating it into my business.
I didn't mention scam, you did.
If you think my questions are out-of-bounds and are undeserving of a straight forward answer, then your thing is not for me.

LOL sorry Earthling I just have a lot of people that are so skeptical about this that I have gotten to the point where sometimes I just have to ask questions back to figure out why people are so skeptical about it. When we first started developing the program it was gonna be a simple little program that just did the requests. Then we added and added and now it does all kinds of things. So when I made the videos I did say 2 month free trial because I thought that was all we were doing and I wanted to do a monthly subscription in order to pay for the costs of the websites, programers, domains, and other costly things. And don't get me wrong I will probably start charging for it in the future but don't see that happening in the near future. There are still lots of things I would like to add to the program and am kinda out of a programer at the moment so... I have been using this program for over a year as well as many others free of charge. If I do ever start charging it will be up to the user to do so, it cant just start charging you.
As for the beta testers, I need to know if this is something people will use and if there are any unknown problems or issues that others are having. I have thought that if I do charge for it at any point, it is in my control to keep it it free for people hat have helped me out in this process. So in a scene, being a beta test could keep you from having to pay if that ever happens.
Sorry I got so excited, you are right, I did say that in the videos. I had forgotten about that, it was so long ago..

When will the KJs that have signed up appear on the website? Also, when I tried to upload my song list it only took the first 100 songs, that's about 12,000 that it didn't take.

@bgood, Your show should show up 6 hours before the show. Ex. If your show starts at 9pm it should show up at 3pm. If it isn't then something is not set right. Best way to check it is set everything up and just put in a time that is close to the current time. Then if its working right just go back and set the show time and save it.
What format is all your mp3+gs in? The standard format is DiskID-Track - Artist -Title.
If all your music isn't using this format for ALL your music then it 1, might not show correctly, or 2 not upload at all. Also, once you tell it where your music is and it loads, what is the number in the top right corner above the check boxes? #Songs ???
Make sure you are clicking the Upload and Replace Server List when your ready to send it to the database.
