If That's The Case Then Why would they not continue to sell the Songs that are NOT available in the GEM Series. (Heartache Tonight, Long Run, Etc.)

That got me wondering too, kjmann. Only 5 songs from 8125 made it available as mp3g. (Already Gone / Desperado / Hotel California / Life In The Fast Lane / Peaceful Easy Feeling).

Could the other 10 songs be included in next Gem Series II? Just kidding!

...while you still can. Anyone who thinks they are going to sell these for big bucks on Pawn Stars some day is dreaming. CD's are already obsolete and going the way of the Dodo fast.

That's what they said about vinyls ... and they're still around and worth more and more every day, depending on which one we are talking about. Sorry to disagree with you, but if anything the SC8125 will keep going up in price, since it is so rare.

I got mine for I think $60-$90 back in the day and a replacement for $325 2 years ago.

Fred Meyer stores have a 'new' vinyl section! People still want and buy them!

If that were true, then why do I still keep seeing it offered up on e-bay for $300 plus???... and people are still paying the price for them.

And I have over 1100 45's that I have collected over the years. Not only that, I have several stores located in Downdown Manhattan (NY) that specialize in the sale of 45's, 33's, and even 16's and 78's.

Cuey they buy it at that price, in the words of PT Barnum because "A sucker is born every minute".

If you are in the states, there is a large retail chain called Hot Topic that is in most any decent sized shopping mall. They sell vinyls though the assortment is more along the lines of My Chemical Romance, H.I.M., Rise Against, Thrice, etc. Still great music but not the variety I expect some would want to have.

Vinyl is worth more & more every day? Right.

In five years or less, when CD players are as easy to find as turntables and PC's no longer have them, think they will be $400? $500? Keep dreamin'.

If you are holding in order to make money, sell now while the suckers still exist to buy them. If you really think that the price will just go up forever, you are delusional. If you are holding for nostalgia, well that's different. People buy and collect all sorts of worthless things.

Yup. Really, really.

Vinyl has been dead for decades, other than for nostalgia and yearning for days gone by. Any vinyl released today is for novelty purposes. It's retro-fun. CD's are on the fast track to the same fate. If it's some cash payout you are after, sell now at the peak while there are still interested buyers. Otherwise leave them to your grand-kids in your will as a quaint reminder of how things used to be when Grandpa was a KJ.

I agree somewhat with Bazaa. Vinyl is a niche market for collectors and audiophiles. It will be around for quite a while and some of it will end up being quite collectable and worth a lot of money. Anyone have an original Beatles White Album?

I have been telling folks for 10 years that CD/DVD Media is a dead format. Most of my friends and aquaintances haven't purchased a CD/DVD in any format for many, many years now. They all stream the content they want. Of course I have lived in relatively well connected areas which certainly has an impact. But as broadband speeds go up and become more widely available, the reasons for purchasing a CD/DVD will continue to go down.

I have been a Hulu, NetFlix Streamer for several years now (haven't had Cable/Satellite for almost 4 years now) and I am about to pick up Amazon Prime.

For those of you that are going to reply with "But streaming doesn't work in rural areas with slower internet speeds" - my reply will be......

Move. :)

And my reply from a rural area is, I hope Microsoft gets into replicating food soon because without people in rural areas, you might just starve.

I realize that tech is your world but we actually know people without email and they seem to get out and socialize and do something with their day other than sit inside and stare at screens or play virtual tennis or whatever. And their info isn't being sold to corporations. The internet is a great tool but there seems to be a fine line between using it as such and it using you.

As for the Eagles, I wouldn't pay that much when you can get the songs on Zoom but then again, we aren't supposed to be importing Zoom anymore so the availability of those songs may indeed continue to be a rarity. Especially if the other sources like Legends and Backstage finally dry up.

Yep just so happens I do. Played exactly 3 times
once to make sure that there were no skips.
once to copy it to tape.
and just last year once to rip it to computer.

1) You don't want to mention audiophiles and different medea to Bazza...

2) Yup, I have all the Beatles albums still in their original covers, as well as all the Elvis. Loads of 45s in their covers as well.

I also have a lot of the original novelty type albums in their original covers such as Murray The K's Golden Gassers, Snoopy's Christmas by The Royal Guardsman, Tom Lehrer's That Was The Year That Was, The Two Sides Of Leonard Nimoy ( one side Singing Spock's songs, the other singing as Nimoy. "Highly Illogical" was the top song as Spock, The Ballad Of Bilbo Baggins the top as Nimoy), et... I have already been offered hundreds of dollars for this last one, and $150 for the Tom Lehrer Album.

Reality got to me......and money. Spending $100+ per month on cable/satellite is just plane silly to me. I have more than enough variety from Hulu/Netflix/Amazon to satisfy me and I spend less than $25/month to see what I want to see. I am also not bound by broadcast schedules. I watch on my schedule.

No mate. The Borg got to you.

You totally missed the point.
Why would someone who loves their view
move to the concrete jungle just to watch more television.
