not on the track itself (that i have noticed) but i have my Digital One rect. along with their clear statement that it is for pro use. that and i have messaged and e-mailed Karaoke Channel several times asking if they are telling me the truth about it, hit their blog and finally got a response that she (the blog admin) would look into it and get back to me.......8 months later she not only did not get back to me, but wont respond anymore. if it was not, i would assume they would have gotten back to me in some form quickly. there are quick responses to "can i use downloads i buy here for hosting?" and the response is almost immediate with "no, tracks purchased from Karaokechannel.com are for personal use only", asked about the same tracks on Venue VJ and silence. i guess there is no good way to say "not here, but go to them and you can". hey, business is business.

Which really says nothing about them being legal for use in a show, other than a site that sells them says you can.
Again, a club that was using those Karaoke Locker tracks (through PCDJ) got named in the suit around here & no longer do karaoke. I do not know the exact reason why, but do assume that has something to do with it as they quit about 2 weeks after the papers were filed - whether they just felt it wasn't worth the hassle & quit or they really aren't legal for use in shows - don't know.

The "Legal" section on the PCDJ site seems to shift the responsibility onto the end user--says the original trademark holder reserves all rights, etc. There is also a forum question about it where the site representative says that you can use their tracks commercially but it is a "grey area." He also points out that the trademark suits are over the SC trademark and not the Karaoke Channel trademark. Not sure I would feel comfortable with that.

Here is a link to the forum answer they give--scroll down to July/2011:

For the record, to the best of my knowledge any music made previous to the mentioned January 2011 deadline fall under the old worldwide licensing agreement, so are perfectly fine to purchase.

As for new music, I have been in contact with Zoom and they have told me that they now get their licesning DIR$ECTLY from the music producers. All that has really changed is that there is a lot more paperwork involved.

I don't know if the same holds true for SBI but I don't see why they would give up such a large potential market.
