You probably should have.. the Pioneer ones were hard to find (I haven't looked for quite some time though)... Gosh, new they were $700... was a fortune back in the day!! But as far as I know, they aren't made anymore..
Were they the model that can play one track at a time?

The laser disc players are really cheap in my area on Craigslist. I've been looking at them and the discs for a while, but can't justify the purchases, since I won't be using them in a show. I just want them in my living room.

From a little research, in my opinion, SC was not one of the first, they certainly were no Pioneer..... ...Singing Machine branded some cassettes, as did Priddis, not sure how far back they go. SGB, not sure when they produced their first karaoke cdg. DK seems to go way back. LG. MM, Sunfly? I'd say SC definetly made some noticable improvements over the others.

i wish i had taken a picture of it. durring one of my goodwill runs i came across a singing machine 8-track player.
i didn't know there was 8-track karaoke.

speaking of which....found 3 supercore, a PHM and a new MM disk at one goodwill today. $3.00 each.

Paradigm Karaoke, The New Standard.......Shift Happens

One of my first year karaoke experiences was at a club with 8-track tape karaoke and cassettes - huge binder of printed song lyrics. It was a LONG process between songs since they had to find the track and fast forward to it, and if they missed the cue, they had to redo it again! Luckily Pioneer karaoke was taking over and the tapes were on their way out.

I have not seen the X-Acto knife marking process so I don't know what it looks like. But my understanding is that it is basically a small scratch on the inner ring near the center hole of the disk. I don't see that on any of my SC discs so I don't think I have purchased any of those.

Black Light Ink Marking is the new method so get a black light and check front/back of discs. easy to spot.

If I were to purchase discs that I later found out were used in a previous audit, they are my discs now. I would notify Sound Choice so they could update their records. I would keep my receipts and request an audit to update the marking to reflect new ownership.

If I were to sell my marked, audited discs I would notify Sound Choice I was selling and who the purchaser was. Again so they can update their records and also so they knew I no longer owned the discs and thus could not be suspected of loaning out to help someone pass an audit.

I use the Chartbuster 12000+ drive. All of the tracks are digitially watermarked. If I were to sell one of those drives I would contact Chartbuster to notify them and provide the information for the purchaser so they could update their records.

That not how it works. With ANY music purchase, karaoke or otherwise, you do not own the song (content), you bought the right to use it.
