I've dedicated a few of my shows to individuals or acts, most recently last night was to Davy Jones. I didn't have time to do it up like I wanted to so I printed out color copies of the Monkees logo (red guitar) and affixed them throughout the bar. I announced the dedication occasionally and I was able to sing 3 Monkees songs. 3 others were sung. RIP Davy!

Anyone else ever do this?

Haven't gone so far as to hang stuff around the bar.. but I wore a silver glove for Michael Jackson.. I can't sing Michael. Did ok with Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
Too bad, gone so soon. Even Davy.. made my heart hurt and I realized that he was my very first love!! I was 10-11.. :)

both my youngest daughter and I cried when we heard he died.....I still remember her coming running in the kitchen to tell me she was in love with this "new" singer when she was about 7 ...and me telling her I used to kiss the tv screen too when I was her age.....she thought I was lying.....what a way to graduate from the Chipmunks to the Monkees. I had to take her to a book signing in NJ before she believed he was "old like me" LOL

And he was still cute!!! I bought their first album when I was 10 (I didn't see the show until much later.. when did it start?), I used to lay on my bed listening, with my eyes closed.. just imagining me and him... getting married... !!! LOL And when the next album came out with 'The Day We Fall In Love" on it.. OMG, I thought I was in heaven!! LOL I still have both those albums .. the second one has written on it in little girl handwriting 'Davy + Lisa' with a heart around it :)

I just looked it up.. the tv show started in 1966! It was on NBC, which explains why I never saw it.. in our area we only got ABC and CBS (barely, on a clear day!)... and maybe an hour of PBS!! Gosh, how times have changed.. and now I feel really OLD!!! LOL

I remember the show, I was only 7 when it started but it was entertaining back then, then again so was Batman! At least to a 7 year old!

Not while I was running a show, but after Ronnie James Dio died I sang a bunch of his songs at my friend's show.
