Hello,

After doing a lot of searching and a lot of reading I would like to see if anyone who has dealt with chartbuster can give me a little more info.

First I have emailed and I have tried calling but no answer and they need to fix the phone system lol. maybe they were in the back working on new music.

First thing, I read on their site they have the 12000 trac hard drive on sale at a discounted price with financing. Can anyone tell me how much of a downpayment is required? How much are monthly payments? How long do you get to pay? If you have these how are they working for you? Do you get certified when you purchase?

They also have another product the kj media pro. My thinking is this, I could get the 12000 trac set and then set up the kj media pro if a couple of things could work out and use this to keep adding the newer stuff. My first question is this, after unlocking the tracs with the software you have to use can the tracs then be exported to a different hard drive to be used with the other tracs with a different program? I did run across one post that kind of dealt with this and I think they said you could and if so how much of a pain is this?

If you use the kj media pro do you get to keep downloading the newer music that they come out with and have it available to get with your credits?

Are the tracs you buy through the kj media pro certified?

Now for the last but a very big question for a lot of you who have been doing this for quite some time, are they coming out with newer music as I have read on here that they seem to be slowing down.

Right now I have SGB and a few misc. cheap disc and and some stuff bought online at tricerasoft etc. one track at a time. Most of the tracs dont sound that great and I have been told so lol. Playing their small clips in the Charbuster search the music sounds pretty good, although it shows that it has some songs but when you go to trac it says could not find a match on a lot of them so don't know if they actually have them or not but the ones they do sound pretty good.

Thanks to anyone who could give me some info on this,

evilstepdad

I have been leaving emails to them only to have them come back as undeliverable, and all phone calls have not been returned. I was told their phone system was down, but it supposedly back up today.
I just want to know when their website is going to be updated to reflect the newest releases and the custom disc selections reflecting the new songs. Their last "new" disc listed is October.

I noticed that also, when I called today I did get the message machine but the voice kept dropping out at times and kept telling me the party I was trying to reach was not available but I did not choose any options for getting anyone in particular.

I also noticed the dates on the newer cd's. If you use the search on their site to see and try out tracks at first it looks like they have a certain song or at least several of a song and when you hit search by trac it will only show one or it will show coul not find a match. I can't believe they only have one snoop dog song lol.

Going back over some old post I see you use ots also. This would be the program I would think about running all of this through, I sure with they would do another upgrade and give it a few more features for this kind of stuff. As a dj for music software it has been rock solid since day one.

To use the kj media pro you need to be running compuhost. Sounds to me that the 12000 song hard drive is your best choice.

They never a did any Snoop Dog solos, they made 3 as far as I can tell through Music Book Deluxe duets.

You can get the CB6000 for 1000.00 down and 150.00 a month for 5 months. I talked him (Greg) into 750.00 down and 200.00 a month for 5 months...The 6000 was more than enough of CB to start, I'm adding the SC Gem soon which over lap about 2000 songs. So its about 10,000 songs for around 6600.00 dollars together. SGB is a cheap way to add 1600+ songs but replace them with any thing other. All Star is a great way to add songs. Custom cards for 20 dollars give you 45 songs al-la-cart and decent quality. Partytime/Billboard songpacks are an option as well... Anyway you look at it its going to cost seven to ten thousand dollars to get a halfway decent legal library to start...

Credits
$1.99 each
25 for $45
50 for $85
100 for $150

Each song takes one credit to unlock. Once unlocked it's yours.

Not necessarily, again you can only use maybe 60 songs per show, the first few weeks yes you may be buying like crazy, but guarantee people are going to be re-singing the same songs that you have unlocked the last couple weeks. The CB Media Pro is the best option to start on a budget for anyone. You ONLY unlock the songs you need and can do it on the spot. List the entire list as available - there's what 12K songs right there, and the only out of pocket expense initially is the $199 hard drive & the cost for Compuhost.

That's less than $400 to start. You start with 50 credits. That really DOES seem like the best way to go. The Gem series, you get 6000 songs, but how many of them will NEVER get played?? Out of 6000 songs figure there might be 1000 that will never get played, or get played once every 6 months. To me, that is wasted money.

Its a good thing we're in a Latin / Country music area. Because Karaokanta and Chartbuster cover those Genres. If your looking for Rock, CB ain't it. Look at the songlist they have for CB Media Pro, and think about what kinds of songs people will sing. I had to scramble to buy some Radio Starz, Sunfly, SGB, and Legends to patch alot of gaps because CB has pulled alot of there music. And, I have very little request for Rock...

Add the undeliverable emails and no phone to my list of red flags. DOn't remember them from another thread? Let me go over them again:

1) No new music in quite some time, the music that was released was months "past due".

2) Their Pro CDG line used to have as many as 15 tracks. They're down to 8 (I think) in the last couple of releases.

3) Their website hasn't been updated since the first week in January.

4) They used to have a very active facebook page. No new posts since Feb. 1st.

5) GUARANTEED interest free financing. A lot of companies "offer" financing. It is VERY rare for a company to GUARANTEE financing (with the exception of "Buy Here- Pay Here" car dealerships who sell cars for huge markups, charge HUGE interest, and install remote control systems and GPS that shut the car down when payment hasn't been made and guide the repo men to the car).

I certainly don't want them to go out of business! But, I am totally seeing the handwriting on the wall.

Seven Hells!! So what IS the answer?? CB isn't big on Rock, SC sucks because of their policies, and you have to pay for songs you may never use. What is a guy to do??? Maybe SC should do the same thing as the CB 12,000. That would be the BEST situation. Automatic validation, the best quality, and full choice of what you want to OWN, not to mention buying music on the fly. HEY SOUND CHOICE ARE YOU MONITORING THIS SITE?? GET ON THE BALL GUYS???

LOL all you guys!! So many questions, so little time!! BUT who really knows all the answers??? Um.. a woman!! J/K

Yes, CB shortened their cd's to 8 songs :( Came out with disc's in Jan & feb.. don't know about march yet.

IMHO:
SC is best all-round karaoke
DK is good for a base (out of business but check online see if you can find a set of disc's 1 thru 99)
SGB sucks on a lot of stuff but seems pretty good for rock
CB has always been the best for country (patsy clines are too fast though)

SC has never been very helpful at keeping us KJ's up-to-date... seems that we have to do our own research for which songs/discs we need.. and then beware of so many duplicates... I hate that! Their stuff is expensive, then you buy a disc for one or two songs and get five others that you already have and two others that you've never heard of. Are the Gem series guaranteed that there are no duplicates? I haven't looked since I bought CB's 12,000 .. can't afford SC too.

I'm glad I'm not just starting out.. it is confusing! If I were just starting.. I'd probably buy the unlockable drive from CB IF I had internet everywhere and IF I liked CompuHost.
If I were flush with cash... I'd buy all the soundchoice gems..
as for keeping up-to-date after that. I'd still get the monthly from CB and scan SC for new stuff (once/if they start making it again)

I got Chartbuster on the phone last week, not much of a problem. However, I do get frustrated navigating their website, and ordering credits is 50/50 at best. I'm on the fence about ordering another HD drive for the second rig I'm building. Might just fore go CB.

That's what I was thinking, too, but I need something to start out with BEFORE I get the CB drive. I need something to make the cash with to buy the CB drive. That's why I am going to get the SGB 66 and why I am hoping I can use that Tricerasoft site for now. This way I can get a few shows in and then get the bigger stuff.

Lisah,

Could you tell me how the drive is working out for you? Do you know if on the KJ system if all of the updates are downloadable to the hard drive? I thought I read somewhere that they were and thus available for buying with credits if you need a song.

Someone said that this would be a good idea if a person always had a internet connection but the way I understand it all of the tracs are on the drive and you just have to put in credits to unlock them, can anybody verify this?

Lisah, if not mistaking your drive was already unlocked and ready to go right?

Thanks,

evilstepdad

Also, what is the capacity of this drive, and what happens if it gets full, after a while??

No internet connection needed for the Media Pro Drive. It's recommended you store the unlocked songs on a separate drive just in case (from what I understand it's fine) the HDMedia drive fails, if you store them all on the same drive & it fails, you have to re-unlock the songs at your expense so back up the songs you unlock!
