This is sort of off the subject but last night I had a singer bring in her own wireless mic and ask if she could use it. I asked her if it didn't need a transmitter to work and she said, "Oh yeah, I have that part but it's at home." I could see someone bringing in a wired mic if they wanted to use their own sanitary mic as I could switch that out in seconds but a wireless without a transmistter was a bit of a problem for me.
I get someone on occasion bringing in their own mic, wired of course. Not a wireless.

I've had people ask to borrow my headset! All I can do is shake my head and say "Sorry, nobody uses this but me." .. but I'm thinking, "The nerve of some people! This thing costs over $900!" AND, the mic part sits right at the corner of my mouth... touching, I'd never let someone else use it!

But, have to forgive them... they are clueless :)

Makes me remember the rule... these people are your customers, not your friends... though if you treat them right, they think they are your friends! :)

I tend to make friends out of customers.

Smooth, I did that too, back when I was new at it. Was fine for awhile... but then no-so-much! There's maybe 1 or 2 that I might consider... but really, I found that remaining just their KJ was the best way to go. I don't want to know all their problems, I don't want to tell them mine. I don't want to invite them over (did that once... they came only to sing and when one disc messed up, they left!! not friends!) People tend to expect 'favors' when they think they are your friend.

So, even though a lot of them would consider me a friend.. and I will be to a point, they also know that this is a professional relationship. I don't give out my phone number and very very few know my last name. It's best this way.

Also, they will talk behind each others' back... I never say anything!! Had one girl accuse me of telling people she was having an affair with another KJ. I never told anyone that! Although it was true and her husband finally caught her. I never want to be pulled into any of the bar drama.

I really do like a lot of my customers. BUT, they are not my personal friends.

That makes sense. Many of my early customers would be my friends, cause that who i would invite to come.

yeah... I can see that :) None of my friends wanna sing! Chickens!
With the customers though, you gotta watch out.. something 'drama' happens and it'll hurt your business. You know how people will always try to find someone else to blame.. you are an easy target being in the spotlight. Trust me. :)

I only feel the need to disinfect after a water drinker sings.
While the alcohol drinkers seem to spit more, I believe their spit to be a disinfectant in itself.

Colored wind screens to differentiate between mikes, but colored electrical tape on the handle works just as well and is a lot cheaper.

The Mic is the Transmitter. She must have thought that you could get her Wireless Mic to work with your Receiver...WOW...LOL.
