And that - in a nutshell - is the problem:

They should be weeding them out BEFORE they sue anyone.

Anything else is simply an excuse to be sloppy and/or incompetent.

Your contract doesn't cover "personal financials" does it? Or is the language just vague enough to be all-encompassing?....

Inquiring minds want to know....

I figured there might be no response so it's quite reasonable -- based on all the other legal action I've observed over the years -- that the logical conclusion is yes, it does include personal checking and savings accounts, IRA's, and any other bank-oriented cash asset.

Sometimes even a non-answer is in of itself, an answer of one kind or another.

Absolutely not. And I've never aided an "illegal host" (pirate) either.

(And exactly why are you baiting me?)

It was just a question. One with a simple yes/no answer. You answered it. Done.

Would you show them your discs before a lawsuit was filed?
And say for the sake of argument that you actually are a pirate, not saying you are, Wouldn't that give you reason to just disappear before you can be sued?
Hence the reason for the dolphin nets.

Are you suggesting that the "big time" pirate that is undercutting your shows at $50 + beer has the means to just pack up his life and disappear never to been seen again? If that's true, then wouldn't your problem be solved by that?

Maybe you should put on a trench coat and fidora and go out there asking to see the discs of your competitors so as to make them all disappear.

let's add Venue VJ (Karaoke Locker) to the list of ok for commercial use.

There are a couple programs like that. Their locked karaoke isn't that great. They have great controls, but their songs are lacking.

I must be thinking of another program. I remember the samples were terrible.

I don't know, since they use Karaoke Channel tracks - and Karaoke Channels states NOT for pro use. I think that would be a direct question for Stingray to find out for sure if the karaoke tracks downloaded from Venuedj aka Karaoke Locker are ok for pro kj's and not just private home use.

Lonman,

You think they're advertising it all over the internet and Stingray doesn't know about it? That makes no sense, they'd have to have some type of agreement in place to have access to the tracks in the first place.

Right, that never happens that a site would say totally legal.
However, being Stingray states NOT for pro use downloaded from their site, but gives the ok for karaoke locker to sell the same tracks? Again i'd want to hear it from the manu (or current owner Stingray since SC actually manu'd them) that they were legal to use through that site. Instead of what everyone does and assumes - like someone said, it SAYS it's legal to use to you just take their word as gold?

Would it matter? After all, like discs, you would've simply "purchased in good faith" and it's no longer your problem right?

I would do so Lon, but after several emails back and forth about songs I finally asked that question and they stored talking to me. any time you ask if a song downloaded from karaoke channels sure is ok for commercial you get a response in hours sayin' absolutely not, ask that same question about those songs from karaoke locker and you will not get a no.....our any reply again. Add their inability to say no and the fact that it started 9 years ago and kept growing and that tells me they are just keeping quiet to not have to say yes. If you can get a response, please post, they won't answer me at all.

Then I wouldn't use it. I am only going to use the stuff I have assurances that I can rip or download and no have problems, until I can afford the CB KJ Pro thing.
