I recently acquired a full karaoke rig from a defunct venue. Along with all of the hardware was a nice size binder of about 350 discs. in the binder there are several of the CB Essentials packs so I decided to find out exactly what I was missing from the Chartbuster side of things compared to my CB 12000+ Drive.

I fired up Karma, rebuilt the index around just my current Chartbuster library then did manual searches on every song in the Chartbuster Essential Pack 1.

33 tracks from the Essential Pack are not on my 12000+ drive -

I believe 30 are in that list. The other 3 could not be ripped (discs are little beat up). Almost all of the tracks popular songs. Still have another 270 discs to go through.

Beat up on label side or play side? Play side can be restored.

For this batch, just the Play/Data side. I really should get a disc resurfacer gizmo with all the discs I have now.

I know "Wanted Dead Or Alive" was on the first Essential 450 that I bought. Volume 1 was the only one then. It is no longer on E1 or any of the others.

I second. A terrific system, and now it's priced at about half of what I paid. It will fix ANYTHING short of label damage.

Hey Lon or Joe
....Can this product be used on some of those "In House Burnt" CDG's that some Karaoke Manufactures have been using these last few years?

As long as it doesn't have label side damage it can be used on ANY disc - DVD, CD, Game Discs, VCD, etc...

If there is label side damage, does that prevent the device from repairing the data side? Or is this just reference to it won't repair label damage?

....Thanks. I've seen ads for them and I do have some CD's & CDG's with very light scratches but since I will have to play off of a certain Karaoke Company's Originals, I'm a bit weary about damage and might need to use a repair kit of some sort.

Once the label side is damaged, the disc is pretty much toast on those tracks, that is where the actual information is, not sure why disc makers didn't protect that side much better, but it is what it is. Now provided they are just small scratches, you may just get a skip on a track or two, if they are long scratches on the label side, the entire disc is most likely dead or very skippy & garbly lol.

I found similar results between original Essential sets on SD that were mailed to me and due to defect, the replacement sets. There must be different REV to the Essential sets. I had already corrected and added all tracks into my books before they arrived so that I would be ahead of the game. so much for that great idea. :withstupid:

I don't think my drive even has 12,000 songs.
And it is missing at least one mp3 file.
(There are other places I see files missing but they are duplicated on the drive with both files included).
They really need to be more careful loading their drives.

You should be able to see the contents - even locked in Explorer. It will tell you how many items are in a folder (or hard drive).

It's not conclusive yet but the largest folder has 23,750 song files (actually 23,749 because one song is missing the mp3 side). So on that I am short 125 songs. There are some other folders on the drive with newer releases, but some of those songs are also in the large folder. So I am yet to come up with a non-duplicated total.

Also the included list files are inaccurate. The list for the largest part is in two parts and totals over 12,000 songs...and there are not 12,000 in the folder. Will be fun determining which ones aren't there. I've already started comparing to my essentials (I have 1-10) and already several songs are not on the "12,000" set. Not even through the letter "A" yet.

I found the same thing with my CBE's.. I didn't count but there are LOTS of songs that I have on disc but aren't on the CB hard drive. My 12,000 drive had about 25,800 files on it (25,800 divided by 2 = 12,900 songs). I didn't check at the time but am finding now that lots of the songs/files are 2-mp3 to 1-cdg. I just discovered it tonight. It's late now, so tomorrow I'm gonna pull that drive out of it's box and do a thorough look-see.

So, I got impatient and looked into the CB 12,000... there are 12,354 Mp3 files & 12,355 Cdg files... almost matches up!! lol AND the double mp3's that are showing up on my show computer... well, I don't know how I did that!! GRrrr...
Anyway... I now remember where I got the 12,900 count... there were tons of songs on the 'bonus' cd's that I didn't have.

I don't have the bonus CD's yet. Only the drive, and recording certificates. No certified library cert. either, you'd think they would send that with the drive! I am wondering when I will get all this stuff. I will be looking at the CDs when I get them in case there is anything I can use.

Mine came at the same time. The bonus cd's threw me for a loop for a bit... of the 200 discs, I ended up with approx. 4 sets of 25. Duplicate discs which I will save one for my main library and one for when I may (big MAY) to put together a second rig. It took me about 2 weeks to finally get the 'official' certificate.... they emailed the first one and it had my full name on it, not the company name... so I had to wait a bit longer for the final final. Was just thinking today though... I don't remember seeing a 'covenant not to sue' letter.. I have to go back and check, but wasn't that part of the deal? Or maybe just the fact that they sent me the hard drive means it's ok for me to rip all my other CB's to hard drive....
