I'm downright touched! First, there are a couple of entire threads devoted just little old to me at the "other place" and I'm not even a member! (one of them thanks to Chris Avis (the avid writer) ) Second, I now get a complete "debate style" named after me? All I can say is that I'd like to thank the academy.. and all the little people that made this what it is today..... and so on... and so on....

This forum WILL delete your post if it is not agreeable to the staff!
Everybody here knows chrisavis is self-promoting and brown-noses what he calls the big3!
No personal attack here JUST a forum that cannot be believed because of staff editing! But then it seems the 1st amendment means less and less to the forums who censor true statements!

Workmen wrote: This forum WILL delete your post if it is not agreeable to the staff! You are exactly correct. We say as much in the forum rules. And if you want to use scatological references to make personal attacks, it won't be agreeable. There is no first amendment on this board.

No personal attack here JUST a forum that cannot be believed because of staff editing! But then it seems the 1st amendment means less and less to the forums who censor true statements! I can tell you from dealing with Chris that while he is supportive of our mission, he is very much is own man, forms his own opinions, and is appropriately protective of his own interests. When he disagrees--and he does from time to time--he tells us. I didn't ask him to write that article, nor did I see it before it was published. One of the reasons why we get so much cooperation from hosts--even the ones we sue--is that most of them see that what we are doing is designed to promote a healthy industry. It will be uncomfortable to entrenched interests. To put it more colloquially, a lot of people see us as tossing a turd into the punch bowl. But in the long run we believe the result will be a better-functioning industry for everybody. Chris's article tells me that's his goal, too.

Well considering the line they left in place (the one that made me laugh) is completely untrue, I am sure what was deleted follow suit. btw....aren't you the same person that thought that Pyledriver and myself were the same person using two different accounts? I am still waiting on you to call me to confirm that conspiracy. More IRL.... -Chris

c. staley continues to hijack and continually argue the same point over and over again in these forums, as it seems, without first hand knowledge, as he has admitted to not reading the article. He has also commented in another thread where I voiced my concern of hijacking.
I too believe that this behavior needs to be addressed. Accusing someone of hijacking a thread without adding anything to the existing conversation is in itself a hijack. Isn't it? As for arguing the same point over and over again in the forum, c.staley is not the only one. In fact you have just confessed to the same thing. No, I'm sorry. I see it as more of a complaint. Whatever, I've said my peace.

When the punch bowl is drained, we will all see it was just a BabyRuth bar all along. Yummy.

Strange, I've been here a while and have seen many different opinions, pro and con, on vast variety of topics. It's not necessarily what you say but how you say it.

Chip, I assume that my preference for "turd in the punch bowl" is based on my Southern upbringing. I was taught to appreciate colorful metaphors and to use them graciously. A turd in the punch bowl spoils a party and surely earns you no friends; poisoning a well seems like a war crime and surely earns you a date at The Hague. But I will admit that, metaphorically at least, they are describing similar concepts. You will, of course, note that I said that other people think we are tossing a turd into the punch bowl. I prefer to think of it as installing a "No Free Lunch" sign.

....Dang, I sure could have used a "Free Lunch" but not one that consisted of a "Turd from a drained Punch Bowl" with a glass of "well poison."

Wow.. I haven't been on much in the last few days.. still lots of nit picking going on. It's actually made me stay away from here because of the time spent trying to read all the BS ...
Someone likes the 'certified KJ' program and someone doesn't. OH WELL! If you're disc based .. .stay disc based if you like... when a venues asks if you are certified, tell them why you aren't & show them your thousands of discs. Simple.
Most of us that want certification want to be computer based. We don't want to be confused with the pirated 100,000 song KJ's. It's a good system to help us.
I don't think nit-picking the details changes anyone's mind... but it sure is irritating.
Seems like every single thread on here gets one or two real comments then the BS starts.. quotes and legal jargon...
Where's the playground monitor?

Well, you are in the "Karaoke Legalities, Piracy and more" section of this site and HarringtonLaw is an attorney... It has always been a heated, active and controversial subject. Did you really expect something different in this part of the "playground?"

JUST trying to get people to SPELL correctly such simple elementary words that ruin the flow of their thoughts. Whoever said djs were dumb is half-right. proof is here let's see how long it takes to see this one disappear too....in the meantime... THEIR- as in "their" discs. THERE- a place. over there THEY'RE- as in "they're going to sue everyone!" YOUR- as in your discs YOU'RE- as in "you're going to get banned for correcting someone here!" and the worst....RIDICULOUS...NOT RE-DICULOUS! Get a dictionary!!!!!!!!! of course not aimed at anyone in particular...just 3 posters....

+1 for Chris. He has really added tons of information to this forum, seems like a very friendly helpful guy, and explains his positions on everything! +1 for Chip too! He's way above most people here!

That's easy for you to say... especially since you're applying for Certification. As for your "Simple" comment, it's not that simple, not when you have Sound Choice sending out letters which are basically telling venues that their best/safest bet is to hire a KJ who is Certified.... and, we (Sound Choice) just happen to list those KJs on our website, so check to see who they are. Unfortunately for me, I can't get listed there because I am ODB.
