If you can do 20 songs an hour (a song every three minutes), non-stop for a three hour show, you must be segueing the songs right into one another with no announcements or chatter, speeding them up or everyone is singing Elvis/Beatles songs.

@ Bazza

My shows are mostly 60's, 70, 80's songs. And yes, I have almost zero seconds between singers, however I do manage to get a little chatter in at appropriate times.

Well then my hat is off to you. That is a seriously fast pace to keep up for three hours.

@Bazza

I've done it faithfully for 2 1/2 years thanks to Karma and my Pioneer DVD V555 player (super fast load times). I always put a computer generated song between my cdg disc customers, that way I can cue the first note on their cd and pause it while the singer that is singing from song (from my computer) finishes up. Yes, it is very hectic but they keep coming back because of it.

I play customer cd's and to speed things up I have added two devices.

1) To the left of my DVD player is a small TV that I can see the song on and the key change
2) Dead center above my Kensington Trackball Expert Pro is my A/B switch and below that is a small compressor for the CD player output. That does 2 things, it slightly compresses/limits the volume, and it lights up at the first note played. I can see on the little TV if I need to back it up a little.

I run my shows much faster at the new gig than I did in my original show. There are more singers so I try to accomodate them. But I don't want to make it feel like a Chinese iPad factory.

I think I average in about 13-15 an hour. Maybe 15-17 with the new show.

How many songs do you get through an hour on an average. I get at least 60 songs in 3 hours (my shows are 7-10 or so). I frequently run over to 11 or beyond for tip money. I can make more the last hour than I do the previous 3 hours. If I go to 11 I will get about 80 songs sung.

I don't count, for me it's letting people sing what they want. I don't like to restrict (except language songs due to bar rule, not mine) songs. Depending on the time it probably avgs anywhere from 13-17 songs an hour depending on length. But again that is a guess.

Hey mrmarog,
....Noticed your pics, cool! So you also do "Sidewalk Karaoke Shows?" I thought I was the only one doing that?

What about Disco Inferno? It would be a good song to do after War Pigs.

I had A George Strait song done after War Pigs one night.

Yes, I could see War Pigs followed up with Amarillo by Morning.

Actually the song was Drinking Champagne.

Drinking Champagne, I've sung that one! But not after War Pigs.

I've also sung Heroes and Villains by the Beach Boys, kinda long.

A couple of songs with really long sung outros:
Love Is Thicker than Water, Andy Gibb
Strawberry Letter 23, Brothers Johnson

We have some songs that are the opposite--mainly Blues Songs. They have 2 minutes of guitar intro, the guy gets to sing a verse, two minutes of guitar, he gets to sing a verse. But we figure he averages out over the night because he does "This Joint Is Jumping" which is two minutes start to finish.

Zoom Eagles has two versions on Hotel California--one cuts the outro short. But then they also have a U2 version--"Where the Streets Have No Name" (?) where instead of putting up the number of measures or seconds of intro, it just says, "Really Long Intro."

The first time I ever played ZM's version I just rolled up in laughter when I saw that. Never a truer word.

'Measures' still confuses a lot of us brits, we're so used to the term 'bar' - When I started to see it on SC I confess I had to do a quick google to see if it was made-up term.
