Personally I can handle everything but the potshots and name calling. I find that very immature. Different opinions lead to debates, happens everywhere. I don't expect you to like me, but respect the fact that I have an opinion.
I hope that we don't run our shows treating people in the manner we sometimes do here!

Oh look, 2 "Me too" posts in a row. That was just what was talked about, right here in this thread.

This was just a couple of agreements to ripman's statement that actually agreed with the OP about respecting each other opinions, even if someone doesn't agree and stop the name calling. Still sounds good to me. But please, if you feel you need to shoot the other way, that would be your opinion which I really don't care about but will respect.

Actually we do have a policy that you are not to post just to improve your post count. That's why we discourage "thank you" posts. Like on an opinion I see as a bit of a different issue. I would like a like/don't like button on the board, but we don't have it. Personally, when I do a +1 I try to add something small to show my viewpoint.

Just curious, posting to improve post count... besides making it look like you have alot to say.. what is the benefit of having a high post count?

However with some of the sub-forums or private forums, you do need a certain post count of relevance in order to be approved.

I don't think that "thank you" or bunches of repeated animated icons adds anything to the conversation when done reflexively. Content-free posts have to be waded through and are just fluff. I believe Like to an opinion is a bit of a different case. It shows that a sentiment or opinion is shared by others, and does add to the conversation in that way. That's why Like buttons got popular -- it allows that without taking up the space of a separate post or being annoying like the scads of animated icons.

It's the scores of "me, too" posts that make people feel ganged up on.
