So Chippy, on one hand you go on about being sued in court and on the other hand things are settled out of court. Lawsuits occur often. If not, then the courts would be closed. Being sued in the professional world is a part of doing business (ask McDonald's, GM, American Airlines, or Joe the Plumber). You know that but you would prefer to obsucate things for those who do not know how things are run in a Justice system.

Listen I don't care if you think the policy is bad, it's your right. But to continuously declare that this company is evil and trying to tear it down is abnormal and fanatic. It becomes more so when you don't even use the product.

Why do you insist on denegrating my husband's name every time you address him? He has never referred to himself as "Chippy," yet you insist on this infantile practice in order to somehow belittle him. If you don't like what he writes, feel free to say so, but it would be appreciated if you would make at least a small attempt at civility. Thank you for your cooperation.

By the way -- it's obfuscate.

OMG I misspelled a word. Quick, get the cat o' nine tails.

Civility begats civility. When your hubby decides to play nice so will others.

Ever notice the ones causing the garbage, will yell long and clear when called on it, and complain that they are the victim. I don't need anyone to come to my "rescue". I'm a big boy. You get back what you give out. Think about that for a bit.

Their website says $199/annually.

Then why are most people here complaining about SC audits when it looks like CB charges more?

Isn't CB evil karaoke manufacturer's too?

I would guess when CB gets as pro-active in suing pirates & kj's that refuse to comply with media shift policies, people will hate on CB as much as SC!

Not all Restaurants or Diners post something on a sign or in their menus that they give free refills on coffee or soft drinks. And don't forget, there are many Restaurants/Diners out there that used to give free refills over the years, but then changed their policy (with no (advanced?) notice to the Customers. So, unless you walk in the door and ask (before you are seated), you will be spending your money for their product (food and/or beverage/s in this example). Now, of course, after your dining experience at said venue, you may decide never to return because they don't give free refills.

I don't know about that... What was that comedy movie with Arnold S.? The one where he gets pregnant. Science could advance to that stage some day. You never know.

Ok Timby. I have never seen CHIP attack you personally. He goes after the crap you say. You are like the Head Cheerleader in charge. I could swear that you work FOR SC the way you defend their every move. You seem to take it very personally when SC is questioned about anything.
I don't know who you think you are but you don't seem like a very nice person, TIMBY, or is it TIMBERLINA?

i think where he's going was you pay for free refills and in the middle of dinner they change their mind and refuse the refills. not that the restaurant is really a good analogy anyway.

Our club USED to give free refills but changed their stance, no not announced, but was told to people in person that asked. I guess since they once said it was ok (even once had it posted 'free refills on soda' probably around 10-13 years ago), that they should continue to follow that one time policy?

Actually, a pretty close analogy would a restaurant allows you to buy your food and share it with your family. One day, as you are eating with your family, a representative of the manager comes to you and says "Well, I see your child is eating some food. You paid for the food, so YOU have to eat it. If you want to share it with your son you have to get written permission from the Manager. To get that permission you must pay us $150, and we have to count the amount of food you have here, and make sure there is only one meal per person. If you don't agree we will sue you for food infringement." It's ridiculous in the food service industry, and it is ridiculous in the karaoke industry.

Any analogy for reference to anything is never good enough. Doesn't matter which point one is trying to prove, others against it will always claim - not a good analogy. It wasn't to mean to be the exact same thing, it's supposed to be something to get a point across and since nothing is even remotely 'close' to what is usually being discussed - no analogy is usually going to fit exactly, other things get brought in as examples.

Not a good analogy
Point being a restaurant hasn't been stolen from for years losing thousands upon thousands of dollars. But if that were the case & they changed their stance to say only YOU bought the meal, only YOU can eat it - which is very true in buffet restaurants, then I guess the analogy could hold close. But the charge would onl;y be the price of another plate. SC is only charging to allow you to shift format. You don't want to shift format, play from disc & not worry about paying!
Sharing was never allowed by any karaoke manu.

When did the audit fee change from covering the cost of doing an audit to being the price of doing a "media shift"?

Is that just the new way it is to be spoken of now to make it seem like there is value in it?

It seems a bit dishonest to me when the language is changed to make things appear more palatable than they really are....sort of like the difference between being sued and the much more reasonable being named in a suit.
