Explains why I we can't get a solid answer about the lack of new releases from them.

My thoughts from another thread:
Those who paid for CB certs/audits did it for nothing, and that money is gone.
Also, even knowing their position, CB offered credits to "defray" cert/audit costs- though not in a position of knowing whether they could/would honor them. Kinda slimey.
The question is going to be whether the new company will honor those credits.

Of course we don't know how all of this will pan out just yet, but this is exactly why I bought the 12000+ drives outright. I have ALL of those tracks now.
I knew something was up the other day when Greg at Chartbuster called me out of the blue to note that there was only a short time left to get a good deal on additional 6000+ and 12000+ drives.
The odd thing for me is that I just yesterday posted my new venue to the certified venue area on the CB site and shot Greg and email to give him a heads up.
Anxiously waiting to see what happens.

This kind of explains why Chartbuster basically blew me off when I tried to start certification last week. I added a 500 pack to the 10 disks I had in each system and figured I would cert just to be left alone. I purchased all my disks direct from CB and other than being emailed the cert form they blew me off . Never got the free disks for ordering digital packs either. If they are going digital only with a new "company" I'll have to rethink using their tracks. I have not used any digital download product because it can be hard to prove you own it and The only time I tried I could not order 2 of the same download (error messages telling me I already owned it). I will not use compuhost because I hate the software and I 'm damned if I am buying 2 copies of it just so I can purchase songs to move to other software.

Whatever they are doing, it is being kept under wraps pretty well. http://DigitraxKaraoke.com is registered to http://domainsbyproxy.com which is WHOIS privacy service. In other words, they aren't being very transparent about the domain ownership. Digitrax Karaoke is based out of Springfield, Missouri and there is a Digitrax Recording Studio about an hour south in Branson, Missouri. I also ran across the DigiTrax customs when poking around last night. -Chris

Again, we will have to wait and see what happens, but I have mentioned several times that disc hosts need to start converting because ultimately that will be the direction the industry goes.
I was actually considering setting up my second system as disc based just to give it a go until the CB site changed.

I received the following info from Greg Taylor that was cleared for posting here -- Quote: Dear Certified Customer:
Chartbuster Karaoke is closing the doors after 24 great years.
As you are a Certified Customer, you’ll naturally have questions about your certification status, and the continuity of your shows.
Your certification is legal, and will remain so, as the date of purchase is the only relevant factor.
Thank you for your support, and we wish you all good luck in your business endeavors. He asked for patience while things develop and more information is released. -Chris

If you are owed a certification then get on the phone with Greg ASAP. He's saying you'll need it to ward off swarms of lawyers from the new company.

I'm sure that CB's successor will still sell and honor credits for the hard drive. That's guaranteed biz! Bad thing is that if you bought it to keep up with new music while having access to older stuff you don't have, you are screwed on the new music part of that.

What makes you think DigiTrax won't produce more music?

If I was going to speculate here, I would say the reason that they are suing under a different corporation name which was recently formed, is because the other corporations will be liquidated under a bankruptcy.
This is not stated as fact – this is stated strictly as a "crystal ball guess" – so keep your eyes open over the next couple of months and see exactly what happens.
For those of you that purchase their drives, the status of that is going to be determined by the arrangement made with the new entity. But there are no guarantees and there is a possibility that the new entity will not "make new music" but will simply "sell music" and if so, there is also a possibility that (if they do make music) they will only make it for their own streaming service.

My understanding is that digitrax is the U.S. equivalent of Tricersoft, where Tricerasoft does not MAKE any music, they just act as a third party website to facilitate sales.
Maybe there will be a manu on that website that does, I don't know. I don't think anybody does.
