I'm very sorry to hear this, and this has always been my #1 concern of piracy. Could you tell us, how much piracy played in this decision, if any. Thank you for supplying us with some great tracks over the years, and once again, I'd like to state, the vast majority of us on here are saddened by this news.

I don't think HOST piracy had much to do with it. I think that they got mired down in debt due to their own licensing and other legal problems, like the CAVS suit.

I also think that since CB's principals are involved with Digitrax- the new label/library owner - that this is simply a corporate shift to avoid paying of the debt, protecting their assets under a new, unencumbered corporate umbrella. Fairly standard.

My understanding is if you have the KJ MediaPro drive, and you have remaining credits, you can unlock songs up until May 10. So if you have any outstanding credits you had best redeem them. But I don't know about any products being available until that time. Who exactly would you buy them from?

And even a less secure situation: if you were to purchase something during this "limbo time" when chart buster is closing and the other company is becoming available, are you going to send over a few thousand dollars and hope that one or the other will actually provide you with product?

This is a period of time when I wouldn't spend a dime other than to redeem all the credits that I currently had.

It is with much sadness that we have to say goodbye to Chartbuster. The people there have always been great and very helpful to me. I will miss them.

A sad day for the industry. We now lost all three of the major karaoke players. DK, Sound Choice and Chartbuster. The pioneers and leaders in the industry, now gone. This is just the beginning. Karaoke will be changed forever. It's a sad day indeed.

Would you like to hold a funeral?? Relax. It's not like their music is gone. They will still be available, and maybe this Digitrax will make new music, and continue what CB started.

Compuhost is the new owner/administrators to the HDMP drive.

Chartbuster Karaoke is closing the doors after 24 great years. Folks who have purchased our digital products are legal and will remain so, as the time of purchase is the only relevant factor.

We’ve had a great run, and truly appreciate each of you who have supported us over the more than two decades we’ve been serving you.

Thank you for singing, thank you for being our customers, and thank you for the love you have shown us through what has been a difficult time.

Any last minute deals on credits for the KJMP? Or is it all on CH now?

They may not have known they were shutting their doors 2 days ago - I have worked at clubs that shut their doors without any planning, something happened that forced them to. Benefit of doubt sometimes need to be given.

"something happened" is the $389,000 judgment against them for breach of contract (with charges of fraud) that was handed down yesterday.

Have to say this completely stinks. Having just got the KJ Media Pro, I would love to buy a bunch of credits right now so I could unlock more songs, but it seems that all the pages have been taken down, its not even advertised on compuhost's website anymore.

I basically paid $4 a song for 50 songs, unless this program gets started again. *bangs head*

You don't need to redeem them, just store them on your compuhost software instead of online.

I have went to the site and it will let you add credits to your cart, but it will not let you check out. Compuhost is saying that they don't know how long it will take for them to get up and running with Digitrax (which doesn't exactly have a site yet...). This is insane. People have spent a lot of money for this item, and yet we don't even get an email/telephone call/ anything?? :x

It sounds to me like Chartbuster & Crew are getting out of the "song creation" business and into the "song distribution" business.

If they focus 100% on the KJmediapro system, they could become the iTunes of Karaoke. A Karaoke Switzerland, distributing for everyone.

I got an e-mail from them about having to close their doors and KJMP being suspended.
