Let me see if I get this straight.

Piracy Recovery, LLC now owns Chartbuster Karaoke Trademarks and PR, LLC's owner also owns DigiTrax.

Who own's Piracy Recovery, LLC & DigiTrax?

Does anyone own the rights to rights to produce the music that was originally negotiated by CB? Assuming the rights were actually obtained by CB?

If a KJ is planning on using CB tracks, is 1:1 and seeking certification who do they contact?

Hitech,
From what I have read the CB certifications now in place will be honored by Digitrax. Digitrax supposedly will be contacting certified KJ's upon renewal. I guess we will have to see what DigiTrax requests to be certified. :?:

Blessings

....I have noticed where others have received emails (or so they have said they have) from Chartbuster. I must say that I feel a little left out. Ok, a LOT left out. Guess I wasn't as much of a valued customer as I was led to believe?
....Besides, I have most of their Library (Legally purchased and certified) or so the Certificate states that I am or was or whatever. Now after hearing/reading (rumors or not) about the lawsuit, I'm beginning to wonder what is licensed and what isn't?.....Gee, thanks again for the support!
...."The Karaoke KJ Business, where if you're a Karaoke Track Thief and get caught it's a slap on the wrist and you become a customer but if you're a long-time valued customer, we need your support. Just sign on the dotted line, don't worry about the fine print and keep your mouth shut."
....And some wonder why not all legit KJ's are fired up and willing to sign on the dotted line from each manufacturer, but especially after this latest news....seriously?

....As upset as I am, I'm still 110% against Piracy.

just to clear the record....I did not receive any emails either. The info I got was received after my initialization of a few phone calls or from postings here by CB employees ect. Don't want anyone to feel left out :thinkin:

I never managed to get certified by CB either, even though I emailed the 2 library lists, paperwork etc.. I was never a big CB customer, but I have been purchasing (direct) 2 copies of the monthlies since late in 2010 and have 2 digital 500 sd cards. Going through the library yesterday I determined that 9 of the 11 cds I have From CB are "hybrid" with the MP3 files and the other 2 disks I have all but 4 songs on something else. I'm pulling the 2 cds and I'm not going to sweat using SD cards and songs purchased in mp3+g on a computer. I certified rig 1 (700 disks) with Sound choice when I expanded rig 2 with a GEM, own 2 copies of PHM going back to 95. (which I get direct) plus another almost 5500 disks. My total investment is well over 100,000 in 22 years. I have finally reached the point if CB or Digitrax or PR wants to try to sue me, I'll see them in court. I never rec'd the "free disks" with the SD cards I was promised and I am now using only CB Product shipped to me in computer format on a computer by them. I've always tried to be "legal" but enough is enough. I bought Dangerous, All Hits SAV BMB Maestro SGB and others throughout the 90's only to find out years later the product I paid 20- 35 dollars each for were never properly licensed. At least SC gave the impression they were more interested in was I 1 to 1 than they were about the format shift. In my area there are 2 legit disk based KJs in business 20+ years and one other computer KJ (20 years in business) who owns 3 rigs with all the disks. The other 30 or so KJs here all have their hard drives with 100000 + songs, torrent everything, or multi rig with cd burns and we're supposedly the pirates? I don't think so. I have no problem paying SC to Lease the Gem, cost of doing business like insurance, taxes and so on. I would of had no problem paying CB for an audit ( even though I own so little product) But I will not pay 200.00 yearly for the honor of displaying a logo on 18 disks, that is extortion. I have not purchased any tracks on digital download yet because it could be harder to prove I bought them and some download sites have had problems selling it to you twice (for both rigs). I guess it is time to start documenting downloads, or sell everything and let someone else worry about it. I'm glad I have corp. attorneys in my family to help with what looks like future lawsuits.

This industry has become sham and I am now sorry to be associated with it.

Sorry for the rant, stepping down off soap box. (i'll take my meds now)

Well I am not currently doing any shows, so it really doesn't effect me much but I never had any intention of certifying with Chartbuster, and after this whole fiasco, if I ever get back into doing shows, I never will.

If someone who owns the trademarks wants to come after me, that's their problem. Let them try to prove damages.

After the customer service I have recieved in dealing with them, I have to say I am not all that surprised.
