Question 1:

I have never run across this brand before -

http://www.amazon.com/100-Hits-Presents ... B002LZUKUC

Anyone use them and have an opinion about quality?

Question 2:

I just bought this on eBay (scroll down a little past the ads) - it claims to be an original 11 disc Dangerous Set. This seller has been listing this EXACT same item over and over for what seems like a year. They have sold many of these in that time. I suspect it is not original, but for $22.95 and Free Shipping, I figured it was a good risk.

Has anyone else bought one of these from this seller? Thoughts?

-Chris

Interesting..

I wonder if they are "Reprints"..

My earlier post about 4 cases of SGB disks in a garage located in San Pedro was pretty much ignored..

The guy was Persian, and didn't seem like a distributor..

I guess if you spend $400 on a dupe machine, you can be in businss..

....No doubt this is a Major Problem with the industry within itself. I'm sure many others have run into this problem, the counterfeiting side especially in the secondary online market (ebay, amazon sellers, craig's list, etc.). The "Last Chance....Only a Few Left....Brand New...Still In Shrink Wrap....No Burns....and so forth and so on" Just because a seller has a good rating (positive feedback) and tons of sells doesn't mean he/she has the real "AUTHENTIC" thing.

....And yes, those duplication machines really don't cost that much. I did some investigating because I was curious to how these counterfeiters were doing it. Not to mention, the "Big 3" started doing some in house burning in the last several years. Add more confusion, thanks!
....Just think about, who's watching the "Hen House" with these out of business Karaoke Companies.....nobody. It's not just the illegal hard drive sellers that are or have been making out, it's those cdg counterfeiters in the secondary market.

....After all of these years and still no serial numbers on cdg's and no site to join, create an account to record your "Legal Cdg's and their associated serial numbers." When buying in the secondary market it's kind of like the ole saying, "It's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." Is it live or memorex?

...Sorry about the rant, Chris. But back to your question from my experience. I thought Dangerous was pretty good overall quality. Although I only have 8 of the 11 CDG Set.

...I did purchase some of those 100 Hits Presents. The Graphics are nice but they're probably 65-35. 65% really good music....35% what were they thinking when they made these. By the way, they were made in the UK....Legal to use here??? Like everything else these days, questionable.

@ Chris:

On question #1 I have not heard of these but I think they might be imports.
If you look at the main title it says:

100 Hits Presents: Karaoke Rock [Box set, Import, Karaoke].

Don't know where they come from of if their legal!

It also says in the pink circle "For Use In Karaoke Machines Only".....hmmmmm

Chris: about the dangerous set. They look slightly different than the discs that I bough which are unquestionably counterfit so you may be ok if you buy them.

The only way I was able to tell that mine are fake is because the graphics on the tracks themselves were HORRIBLE on some tracks, and were obviously pressed from a heavily used set of original discs.

The only way to know for sure is to get a set of discs that look exactly like the picture that mightywhiz posted.

The quality of these discs hardly makes the effort worth it for most hosts. the only reason I have been trying to find a set so badly is because disc 7 contains "Harvest Moon" which was sang quit frequently when I was doing shows, and because these are discs I orignally sang from when I first started singing karaoke so I want them for the nostalgia factor.

The manus went to "Burning" short runs, based upon the higher cost involved in "Pressing" the discs.
The burners are cheap these days..

Watch this video to see how is is done for large production runs..

I made many CDs back in the 1990s, and always jobbed it out, as most of my runs were 1,000 to 4,000..

From the pics they have on the ebay site, those are not original Dangerous discs. They have been repackaged with the plain gold discs for the last 12 or so years. The original discs with the red/black/flames haven't been sold 'new' since at least 98. The gold labeled discs do have a lot of graphic errors. Music is decent for most tracks, some are identical to All Hits/SGB, many are unique to the brand - I prefer the Bon Jovi - Runaway from the Dangerous set over any other brand - including SC. If the graphics are too bad, maybe you can re-swipe them with Karaoke Builder or something.
