Ready to give up CDG? I broached this topic a year or two ago and the general opinion seemed to be “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” CDG works but… graphics are limited, it’s slow, persisting artifacts, can’t be read by all CD/DVD drives, hard to edit, etc.
I think it’s time for a change. I would be interested in your opinions.

If something new becomes standard then i'll go with the flow, however i'm just displaying words, no need for anything fancy. Even the videos I got people complain they just want the words. Figure out something to easily edit a cdg to change a word here & there - i'm all ears!

I want a holographic image of a nude Jennifer Aniston holding out cue cards with the lyrics on them. Otherwise....what we have now works.

as long as it is not mp4. i like having the ability to use whatever background i want durring songs (my logo in the bottom corner, green with shamrocks in the corners for st pattys day, etc.) and mp4 does not allow that. the only thing that would stop me.

I was actually thinking of something text based. Very small, probably 2K or less for the file and you could change the words in a text editor. Mmmmm Jennifer....

but you would have to purchase all of the songs again in this new format. Talk about duplication!

Either you would have to go through and make another text file to go with the mp3 or build a ripper to take the text and timing data from the CDG, and the latter would be a trick.

Oh c'mon, you can do that!!! I said there would be beer involved in the payment for it!

Quote: Ready to give up CDG? If you are giving up CD+G, wouldn't you just convert to MP3+G that already exists? While it would be nice to be able to text edit lyrics, honestly I only need to do it on a dozen or so songs. The vast majority are correct.

I've used Darryl's CDG Editor to make minor changes, and am thankful for it... but it sure would be nice to have some sort of simple wysiwyg editor.
I'm reminded of how much I would appreciate that type of editor every time I see "For there's a God, and there's a sad old padre...." (It's guard, dammit!!)

eah, the ability to edit the text would be about the only thing I could think of that would be nice to have. I can' t understand a singer's need to point out the wrongness of the lyrics to the KJ, like we wrote it, or can do something about it. It's karaoke darn it! You can say what you like, you don't HAVE to READ what's on the screen.
For some, this is a very difficult concept.

I was only talking about the graphics file which is pretty much the same in CD+G and MP3+G..

Even if I wasn't a Luddite, NOW wouldn't be the time to make the switch. I'd wait until certain companies finish putting themselves out of business. They're well on the way...
