Actually, these discs are out of Japan. Anyone know of a trial program that would rip this disc?

Wouldn't that be why the Millenium sets are selling for less... because they have less songs than DK 1-99?

Willowpiper... I just sent you a PM with a URL to a sale of DK 1-99.

The millenium sets didn't have that many less songs only the songs the 99 set lost licesning to. There were approx 1600+ in the original set, the Millenium had like 1200+ if I recall. The SCDG DK discs that are floating out there are not legal.

They are Super CDGs. Volume 1 is $68 for 905 songs, and volume 2 is $70 for 910 songs.

DK was never released on SCDG. They went out of business before CAVS introduced SCDG. Those are pirated and before you get all defensive, yes they are sold in many places but none of the reputable karaoke stores or Amazon or anyone else that is not a third party seller.

Well, there is nobody to bother me about using them, since DK is no longer, though I have read that DK is alive and well in Japan.

Great morals there! If no one comes after me i'm free & clear to steal!

You're probably right. and they ARE alive and well in Japan. I heard there is at least one company in negotiations to represent their copyright interests in the U.S. so some people may be in for a shocker.

RUMOUR has it SC is buying up the DK trademark!

Who knows. Maybe the people who made these discs actually got in touch with DK and GOT permission to make the discs. Who is to say that they didn't? Just because you didn't read about it in a news paper, or on a website doesn't mean they have no permission. I am buying them in good faith for use at my shows. What a person sells a product for does not make it legal or illegal.

For the price they are selling it for? REALLY? I KNOW you are smarter than that!!!!!!!

More like 1,783 (99 discs *18 tracks each) =1,782 + 1 additional track on disc 45 which is "happy birthday to you"

They can't buy something that is owned by another company. DK is still alive and well in Japan. If SC were actually going to buy up DK's trademark, then that would mean that DK would be getting out of the business. I kind of doubt that, since they are doing so well in Japan.

It's actually 1810 songs between the two discs.

No. It means they would be selling that trademark to someone else. They may very well continue in whatever business they do now.

I am tired of hearing about morals. I have stolen nothing, I bought them from one of Amazon's sellers. It was a legal transaction, using legal tender. I didn't by them from Tom down the street.

Their business is still karaoke. They just don't sell it here.

Smooth,

They're talking about the original DK cdgs not the SCDG versions, which also has some non DK tracks from what I've seen. The original millennium set had a little over 1700 songs (115 discs x 15 songs per disc).

Perhaps SC should sue Amazon for vicarious liability and unfair business practices....

DK actually sold all the rights to a company called Song Factory in the early 2000's which are now out of business so it's very possible the trademarks for the series is possible to acquire from another company. Again it's only rumor, would be interesting to see. I know that would disappoint alot of DK pirates currently out there.

Right however you need to justify it in your mind. You know damn well that a legal DK set would not run under $100!

Here's a list of our extra single DKs (from the original 1-99). There are parenthesis if we have multiple extras of one disc:

1, 3, 4 (2), 5 (3), 6 (3), 7, 8 (4), 9 (2), 12, 13 (2), 14 (2), 15 (3), 19, 20, 24 (2), 29, 33 (2), 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 50 (2), 51 (2), 52 (2), 53, 54 (3), 55, 61, 62, 63, 65, 66, 72, 79.

Let me know if you're interested in any.
