I have one of the Song Factory Discs in my collection. At first I thought it was a counterfeit DK since they use similar graphics on the paper label portion. Examples: Attachment:

I think the Millennium set is a great set. I bought mine from a reputable dealer. Do I believe they are legal? Until I hear something different from the CEO of DK, I will believe them to be 100% legal. No one, I said no one in this forum can prove them to be legal or illegal. This speculation is rediculous. There is no proof one way or another. As for me... like I said, until I hear something different from the horses mouth, I believe them to be 100% legal. So folks, enjoy your Millennium sets.

The actual Millenium set - released by DK before they got out, consisted of discs comprised of the combined songs from their Applause, Encore & Premier sets for a 'core' set. Yes the Millenium set was origanally released for $1500 and the lowest price I ever saw the set (original CDG set) was $999. Even when I find these sets on e-bay (original disc) they still are close to $800. They were never released legally on a $59 SCDG!

THINKING that a $59 SCDG with over 1200 tracks from sets that still command high prices in their CDG format are legal is just as much nonsense and a bit naive to believe otherwise! Julie, charges $20-30 per 18 song disc for a CDG of DK.

Well They look just like the 2 legal sets that I own. The first set I bought from karaoke.com years ago. The second complete set I bought not too long ago from a dj that purchased all of a kj's equipment and had no interest in karaoke.

And Lonnie, they are $68 and $70, respectively. 1810 songs for $138. Still not proper pricing, but no worse than SGB pricing.

I would like to add my 2 cents to this:
Nobody here. NOBODY. Knows for sure if the DK karaoke set on SCDG is legal or illegal.
You guys that insist that they are illegal, or pirated, do not know what you are talking about. If you have ever claimed that the DK sets are indeed pirated, I invite you to show me proof that they are not authentic. I urge you to show me any case law that says that the DK SCDG, or for that matter, any case law regarding the DK SCDG being pirated and I will say that I am wrong. Until then, you are wrong.
My DK SCDG's come with, of lack of a better word, a watermark in the ring of the SCDG that says "DK Millenium Vol. 1.". In other words, these are not cheap duplicates.
As far as this alleged "rumor" about other karaoke manu's looking to represent DK for copyright infringement, I bet that DK has nothing to do with it. If you know the Japanese at all, you would probably know that they are likely not going to be interested in becoming litigants.
Just like Chartbuster - just because SCDG's are being sold well below what you consider retail does not mean they are pirated. I paid less per song for my CB Essentials 1-6 on SCDG than I paid for my millennium SCDG - and come to find out, they are indeed legal as authorized by CB. Just like CB opened their own Ebay store and secretly undercut their own dealers. You don't know what kind of tricks the manu's are pulling from their sleeves.

...and whoever said that the DK SCDG is 128kpbs, you are wrong, too. They are ripped at 192.

I have the 1-99 set- it was pretty much a neccesity in the day, and still is. I do continue to by originals piecework in hopes of building an all original backup set.... ( yup, I made backup copies but would like more originals for this brand)
Troy,as for the SCDGs you may be right- I'm not certain. However, the time frame regarding the production of SCDGs as opposed to the end of standard CD+G production does kind of make them suspicious. Also- and still not claiming to be an expert- DK is my favorite brand, and I have never heard of them producing SCDGs.
That, as well as the cost of the SCDGs as opposed to the CD+G set, would make me extremely wary of them.

I think what makes the SCDG's suspect is that they didn't come out until 2009, which is a few years after even the Millennium set was discontinued. The added 100 or so titles are listed as Pop and Country Hits of 2008, definitely not songs made by DK or Sound Factory.
Oh, and if anyone's interested I just saw a complete Millennium Set on ebay. Asking price is $899.

I went through the list, and whatever is NOT DK is Sound Factory. Let it be suspect. At this point, I am so tired of this crap that I don't care. As long as none of these songs bear the name Sound Choice, I am happy.

SGB was never legal to begin with and their quality pretty much blows chunks as most would agree. $68 & $70 ($138) for 1810 QUALITY tracks =$.07 per track - common sense would tell someone that that just isn't going to happen 'legally'!
