Like I said!

I highly doubt anyone will ever question me about them. These discs have been out for a few years, and has anyone had a problem?? There are people here who use them. And Lonnie, they are $68 and $70, respectively. 1810 songs for $138. Still not proper pricing, but no worse than SGB pricing.

In your eyes it's no difference. SGB was never legal to begin with and their quality pretty much blows chunks as most would agree. $68 & $70 ($138) for 1810 QUALITY tracks =$.07 per track - common sense would tell someone that that just isn't going to happen 'legally'!

You can't say that for sure. Until you have proof to show me that they are pirated discs, and not just assumptions, I am going to use them, and I am going to have a good time doing it. Everyone thought the Chartbuster SCDGs were pirated, too, and they turned out not to be. Like I said, you don't know who made the deal, or what the deal was for these songs. They could be cheap because there isn't much demand for them in this format. You just don't know. So, until I see people getting sued for using them, I will use them. If people start getting named in lawsuits over them I will get rid of them. No biggie. By that time, I hope to have a lot more music, so it won't matter.

...So Chris, how do you know those are originals? Just curious, not trying to be a jerk.

No worries....

I have another DK set arriving this morning. The KJ I purchased from had been in the biz for 20 years. He said he bought his set when it originally came out. I have no reason to disbelieve this so if any of the 3 complete and 1 partial sets I will have is original, it will be that one.

I have one other set that also came directly from a reputable source and it looks exactly like all the rest of the DK discs I have.

I also included the CD case paper inserts in the pictures above specifically to head off a counterfeiting discussion. If they are counterfeits that are very high quality. They made paper inserts identical to originals and these are high quality silk screens.

I will compare all of the discs later this morning after I pick up the package.

Chris,
...I understand what you're saying. A few years back I was warned about the Counterfeiting Market. Before that, I wasn't aware of the higher quality that some of these counterfeiters were producing.

You people have to get over yourselves. You have to take deals where you can get them. It's not like I just bought some hard drive loaded with 10,000,000 songs, all of which are from different brands. I bought discs of one brand that, according to YOU, are of questionable origin. I am sorry if I didn't pay $1,500 for them. I though I was in this to make money, not get raped over ancient music. And not all of DK is that great. There are many versions from DK that are pretty lame, just like Sound Choice. Most are good, but many are pretty bad. Think what you wish. Look down on me from your moral perch, if you wish, but I when I see a good deal I am going to grab it.

Smooth...don't sweat the small stuff.

ALL the manufacturers (like politicians) have dirt under their nails somewhere, as is becoming more evident daily.

Some kjs here do seem pretty bitter that they had to pay full price for their laserdiscs ($150 a disc!) way back when!

Glad i got in when cdgs came out. I spent a fortune like most on SC discs but i made it back in spades.

I predict Stellar will go out of business by years end...but what do i know.......other than their production sucks now....

Never mind, had a response. Not worth the time. Obviously no one gets the point.

Go ahead, Lonnie. What's the point?? All the sets of DK that are out there are sold second, third, fourth hand. DK isn't making a dime off ANY of those discs. They may or may not be making money on the Millennium Supers. What does it matter. They don't do business here in America anymore. They CHOSE to leave this country. Nobody should benefit from what is out there when the original owners walked away from the product?? Whatever.

The point was well received. i DO absolutely agree that the the SCDGs are WELL underpriced which leads to the possibility and speculation that they may be illegal, pirated, counterfeited, etc.. but NO proof has been shown.

Hey! i'm still PO'D that i bought my new camaro convertible last year and the newer models are cheaper now!! :o :o

However i AM happy that i didn't have to pay $150 for a laserdisc back in the day! :)

Yep and I also remember paying $40,45,50 for CDG discs from SC, MM, DK. That has no bearing on anything. I know things go down in cost. However everyone always asks for proof that I can't - well go the other way, SHOW proof you CAN? I will shut up completely and NEVER bring it up again if anyone out there can get direct proof that the DK SCDG sets are fully legal/licensed.
The burden of proof should be on the user.

Lonnie, get over it, already. I am not you. I am not in your situation. I am not in your area, and I am BUYING what I can afford to get started. If you don't like it, that's too bad. I'm not here to please you or anyone else. As I said, if ANYONE gets sued for using these discs, I will stop using them. Until then leave me the Hell alone, and stop judging me. I am still 1:1 regardless of my sources. I have a disc, or receipt for every song I own.

With the exception of maybe, Danny, we all have something like that in our libraries--MM, Karaoke Bay, SGB, Dangerous, Quik Hitz et al and some songs from even well known brands that are rumored to be unlicensed product. A few of these I bought myself as I thought it was okay being from a major supplier and not just a Craigslist ad.

I don't feel "pure" enought to get rid of all suspects but now that I know more about the issue I am trying to avoid buying any more. And I would love to gradually replace them over time. All of this unlicensed product business may have even caused some artists to not want anything to do with karaoke which hurts us all. And even if it does turn out that the DK SCDGs are unlicensed but DK doesn't care, it still takes from the songwriters/original rights holders. So it is the seeming to not care who gets hurt as long as one doesn't get caught that is riling up people. On the other hand, alot of us will scorn some purchases than be happy to score a Dangerous set on the other. So I don't want to throw the first stone on this one--nor do I want to say, "Who cares, go for it.'

I just wish the whole karaoke business was cleaned up so that we knew what was legit and what wasn't. It seems impossible to get a clear answer so much of the time.

In that case, expect an email from my friend Joe Schmuckatelli. I hear he is trying to move what appears to be a full DK1-99 Set + Every Sound Choice disc ever made, and the Full Chartbuster Essentials 1-10 for a mere $1000. Great deal btw......every disc "looks" original.
