Hey guys, Don't all the custom SC discs you buy come from the company in Australia?

I've not bought any custom SC discs, but if you go to SC's website http://www.soundchoicestore.com and click on Custom Karaoke you are taken to http://www.mykaraokecdg.com.au/. At the top of that page you will find the following:
Quote:
Clark Music Australia is pleased to offer premium backing tracks from Sound Choice®, Abraxa and other leading Karaoke manufacturers. This site is the only authorized source of Sound Choice® songs on custom CDG in the world. Sound Choice and the other manufacturers consider these to be legal “original” discs...

The http://www.mykaraokecdg.com.au/ domain name is registered to SoundChoice though.

See for yourself :
Go to http://whois.ausregistry.net.au/ and type in mykaraokedcg.com.au and then type in the verification word and press submit.

Whether you like it or not....karaoke manufacturers used, tricked, misled, and royally screwed the honest KJ's who faithfully purchased their music for many years. By this, I mean the way they signed so many of us up for the fight against piracy only to find out that it was just a way for them to sell more of their music.

What defines a pirate? Someone who has not paid for the music they are using. So I'm not sure what your complaint is. There is a long list of people we've put out of business instead of selling them music. What else would you have us do?

How many are on this list?
How can we verify this?

It's easy to make unverifiable claims like the "long list of those you have put out of business" but it seems that all they are is unverifiable claims designed to shut down any criticism without offering any substance.

SC does not sell tracks out of Australia.

Clark Music Australia is a licensee. SC does not own it or run it. It's a separate company that pays SC a royalty on the rights it uses and pays publisher royalties according to Australian law on the tracks it sells. Because SC has licensed the use of its trademarks and karaoke tracks for this purpose, it considers discs purchased in that manner to be "originals" for purposes of determining infringement and compliance with the MSP. But SC does NOT sell tracks out of Australia, contrary to what Chip stated.

But they obviously own the website? Per the whois link about, it's registered to Derek Slep with a Sound Choice email?? Even the mykaraokecdg.com is registered to alclark with a SC email??

Ownership of a domain name does not mean ownership of the company.

Hmmm.... sounds like a bunch of fancy lawyer talk to me.

Sound Choice Australia - 311 North East Road - Hampstead Gardens, SA 5087 :: (08) 8261 0566
P.O. Box 50 - KLEMZIG, SA 5087

Interesting how the Austrailian Soundchoice web page doesn't tell their customers what a bunch of pirates they are.

What part of "licensee" is unclear to you?

Sounds like another shell game to me. Look! I licensed myself! Aren't I clever.

What part of "SC does not sell tracks out of Australia." or "But SC does NOT sell tracks out of Australia, contrary to what Chip stated." did you want to be unclear to me?

Sound Choice Australia - 311 North East Road - Hampstead Gardens, SA 5087
What part of that name and address is unclear to you?

So apparently this means that SC does NOT sell tracks out of the U.K. as well, they just license someone else to sell their tracks out of the U.K.
i guess it depends on what your definition of the word "is" is.

It's called "Liability Layering" in some circles.
