at an open meeting in PDX. For those of you on here that like to rip him for his practices, I would like to say that he is a decent, personable guy, who is trying to protect his business interests and assets. He has soaked his entire financial well being into this company and the anti-piracy efforts heretowith, and given the same circumstances, I highly doubt any of the dissenters on here would do any different. There was about a dozen of us at the meeting, all of which are currently legal, and desire to remain so. Not one KJ, bar owner, or system owner was there that was a dissenting vote towards SC or Kurt Slep. The people that were at the meeting were there to learn, share ideas and information, and help determine what direction SC is going to go in the future. I was glad I went to this meeting. There are some suprises coming.

I have no problem with Kurt personally, but I do wish that he would have gone in a different direction to stifle piracy. The route that he/SC took is all about strong-arming pirates into buying music. It really does very little to help the legal KJs that faithfully purchased SC music over the course of many years. It just turns our competitors with pirated music into legitimate hosts with authentic music.
Surprises coming.... hmmm. We all know about Chartbuster's surprise. Wonder if this one is along those same lines.

Kurt is holding a similar meeting here in the Seattle are this Saturday. I have put the word out to some KJ's and Venues I know personally and, it was advertised in a well distributed local karaoke magazine. I really hope we have a large turnout for this.

Being from the midwest I have never seen or heard of any Sound Choice meetings in this area. If there was one here close by I would go.

I have a list of questions I have pulled together to ask him. I will also ask about how much we are allowed to share.
Considering that it is an open meeting, I hope that the information discussed is also free to share.

Chris, yeah, I didn't want to say much until I knew it was ok to do so. There was nothing earth shattering or anything, just alot of clarification about legalese and info about busting more pirates.

Yes I think it's ok to talk about what went on at the meeting. It was very informative and There were a lot of questions and information that was clarified. Kurt is a great guy and I really enjoyed meeting him.

Surprises coming.... hmmm. We all know about Chartbuster's surprise. Wonder if this one is along those same lines. He is not, nor has he ever claimed to be attempting to "stifle piracy" or to fight piracy at all. He has stated directly that he is out to "recoup losses". The problem is that he doesn't go after any of those that actually CAUSED those losses- track thieves. Instead, he is attempting to coerce money from media shifters- mostly PAYING CUSTOMERS.
