Nope, go to the bottom of my Compuhost screen. Be here earlier, you'll sing more. Just got off work? Text me your song beforehand and let me know you are coming.

Back on track.

Funny you say it that way, I actually put a scroller on screen now and then that says "Wanna sing more? Get here earlier! Show starts at 9:30"

I'm with you on this one. I actually display the next six and it certainly stops people begging to go next when I explained to them that I cannot put them any closer than the seventh person.

This shuts them up pretty quickly.

I guess I'm out of step with everyone here. I show my entire lineup at the end of every song. (Sometimes 25-28 singers). Also, when you sign, up you go to the end of the line and wait like everyone else. More times than not, the people that come in late have been spending their money (and/or) singing at another bar. They can wait just like everyone else.

Showing the complete lineup on the monitors has been a big plus at my shows. Most of my competition don't do, it, and I've found the singers LIKE knowing where they are in the lineup. I don't think I'd want to do a show without the second monitor.

I'm sure that happens occasionally, but most of our late comers are getting off of work late - swing shifts, or waiting for sitter issues. Am NOT going to make someone wait because they cannot be there earlier.

I see your point, however I don't KNOW they just got off work. Could just be some story just to get closer to the top of the lineup. Much like I gotta sing next because the baby sitter has to get home, or I have to go to work at 6:00 tomorrow.

Plus, by showing my lineup on the monitor, Joe (and everyone behind him) will be upset if suddenly Sue gets up before him, and Sue just got there 15 minutes ago. Almost looks like playing favorites.

Just my .02 cents.

I would encourage them to text me their song if they know they are going to be there at a certain time, keep everyone happy. I have done it a few times.

@ Ripman, There is no way I would put someone into rotation that hasn't arrived yet. Definately would not fly well at my gigs.

But again, anything displayed on the monitor for upcoming singers should remain so, so no one should see their name in the upcoming singers, and then a new singer gets put in the displayed section - that I agree with. Any new singer would get put in the line AFTER the lineup showing on the screen so there is no changes in what the upcoming singers see.
But if it's worked right - even a late comer might only have one chance to sing. And once you get to a certain point that will take you to the end of the night - no more slips period - from anyone.

I've had people text me on occasion letting me know they would be there in 5 minutes and to get their name in. I really do not like to do it this way, but have on occasion if I know they are a good customer.

I don't have the kind of regulars that would text me, but if I did, the answer would be "No". They have to be in the building to get into the rotation. In fact, I don't even do the whole "Can I put my friend in for Song XX" unless they can point to their friend and they can acknowledge me.

I started using "Just Karaoke 2" recently, and had the next three singers' names scroll across the bottom of both the audience screen and the singer's monitor.... but my "regulars" didn't particularly care for the feature one way or the other.

I've always used a white-board and erasable markers to show the rotation, and that's what everyone seems to like best, so that's what I'm sticking with. I've since disabled the scrolling feature.

An auxiliary TV is absolutely necessary. Not only do some in the audience want it, if you ever play videos, the audience can see them. Plus, they are a tremendous marketing tool to advertise bar specials, events, etc. I don't have a house TV in one bar, but I bought a projector and use that instead.

It's funny, when I first enabled the next three singers on screen, people looked at me & said - "Do you actually think people are going to pay attention to that?" I just replied - who knows.
Less than a month, people where not only paying attention, they would oftentimes be at the stage by the time the current singer was finishing. Hoster also displays the song title of the next 3, so people sometimes also will make song adjustments based on the current rotation.

I understand the righteous indignation being tossed my way about altering the rotation. You choose not to do it, I sometimes do. In fact, at just about every gig I do. It's simple, really. I don't see any reason to make someone wait 2+ hours for a turn just because they happened to come later.

The reasons for this are legion. My first rotation is generally 8-12 singers. Once I reach 12 I start inserting others in-between peoples' 2nd turns for the next go-round, so by the time a 2nd rotation is complete I'm at 20-24 singers.

My people get this. I've had very few disagreements over it. It's just a way of life at my shows; I get overwhelmed with #'s and have to try to fit them all into a 3-4 hour window. A few times a night I'll either slide a new person in or a regular who's been waiting a while. everybody gets 2-3 turns, nobody goes home unhappy.

Is it a drag sometimes? Absolutely. I'm just honest with them. And my regulars know the drill by know. Regardless, a 3-4 song manipulation of the list only adds 20 minutes to their night.

They accept it or they don't. Not much I can do beyond that.

I run mine similarly. Except cannot say everyone will get the 2-3 turns. If someone comes in later, they may get only get 1 song in while someone who has been there all night is on their 4th or 5th. However, once a cut-off point is reached, I accept no more slips from anyone - the only thing I allow at that point is if they want to change up their last song.

necessity......if house sets are not available for hooking into then we do a perm install when we install our wiring and lights before the first show.(inexpensive way to keep the singers and non singers happy)

Of course, those that come late don't get 2-3 turns. That would be unfair to those who have been there all night.

But generally, late-comers Do get 2-3 turns because by the time the 3rd or 4th rotation comes around a lot of people have left and I have free time to slot them in.

To each their own, I suppose.
