This whole section needs a Like button, it dosen't seem to matter where you host the singers are all the same. I have moved singers up twice, once there was a bus load of people who came to my show from a nearby town, two of them had their birthdays that day, 19 people rented the bus. It was supposed to return at 11, it showed up about 15 minutes early and pretty much all of them had too much to drink and more than one of them was sick, one singer came and asked if I could move him up so the bus could leave, make no doubt they were the life of the party that night, i made the excetion and let him sing, the whole bar knew they were leaving and the only ones that complained were the water drinkers, go figure. The second time was at a show I do on an outdoor patio in a small tourist town. After having her song in for just over an hour, big rotation all the time at this location her mother came over and asked if Chevy could sing her song. Chevy was celebrating her 2nd birthday and those big blue eyes were looking pretty sleepy. Chevy sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and was the only singer of the night who got a standing ovation. Not one complaint..... For those host's who on a regular basis move their buddies and favorites up the rotation, go sing at a show where you know it happens and see how it affects your feelings towards the host and his show. Just sayin'

The only times I bump people are at private parties or if it is a child who has to be out of the venue by 9:30 and it is 9:15. I've never had a complaint in either case.

I have not heard one good rendition of American Pie, Free Bird, or Stairway to Heaven. I'm seriously considering deleting them from the song books, and refusing the people who want to sing them. It's my honest belief that their song choices have nothing to do with their taste in music, but how long they can sit there on stage. It's unfair.

Roache Coach, I have long ago eliminated those songs and many more of the long songs, with zero backlash from anyone. We have hashed this before and 5 minutes is long enough.

or you could try what I do "ALL Puppet songs must be sang standing on your head"..this rule was named after "master of puppets" and includes all songs 4.45 mins long or longer. Yes I provide a cushion to assist them in standing on their heads and even balancing help if needed.... yes this is in my list of rules and yes they do follow it Athena

We have this woman who, every single night, wants me to just play music while she dances. Everybody hates it, the woman is terrible at it, and she always kicks things/people, and it just kills the entire show, so I don't let her do it anymore.
She got so mad that I wouldn't let her do it one night, she decided to spill a beer all over the stage.
But because she rings up like an $85 tab every night, the bar owner lets her stick around, even though she gets trashed and tries to do dumb (@$%!).

Here's one that's not been covered yet: how about the singer who gets up and sings, but is totally oblivious to where the music is. That is, always a line ahead or behind the music, and can't seem to get back in step with the music. Then they do this throughout the entire song. I've got two people like this, and then they get upset if you try to guide them back to where the music is.

Strap on your biggest kar-i-NO-key smile and clap extra loud when they are done.....is the only thing I can suggest. People come to karaoke to have fun and "be the stars that they ares" make your show as much FUN as you can Athena

That's where a sync slider comes into play. You can adjust the swipes to where they are and gradually bring them back on time without them even realizing it alot of the time.

Last night at my new club, there was s guy who asked for Neil Diamond - I Am I Said - I believe I had 3 maybe 4 versions of it. I honestly don't recall which one I chose as I was about brain dead tired at that time (he was the last singer of the night). He sang 3/4 of the song and sang it pretty well before turning over to me, walking into the DJ booth and almost screaming yelled, "This is Bull$hit!! This is too F'ing slow! I need a different version!"
So I faded it out, started another version which he seemed to like. When he finished, he tried to make nice with me and apologize etc. I very nicely told him that I have no issue with foul language, but that was the one and only time he gets to direct it toward me.
I get the impression I will be 86'ing this guy very quickly.

Used to let a guy use my wireless mic to run around the bar while he sang "Come Sail Away" badly. One night he dropped it. Next night he asked for it and was told no. He then proceeded to dump his beer on my head.
He tried to dash away but was quickly manhandled by the bouncer and bar back who not so gently escorted him out.
Was a (@$%!) thing to do, but nice to see the guys pounce like that and get my back.
