This is my main concern as well. What happens to the song if and when the publisher decides to pull the licensing?
At least with my discs and downloads, I know I will always have the songs that I buy.
Even with the GEM series at least you get to use all the songs you are leasing, for as long as you keeping leasing it.
Sounchoice isn't going to come to you and say "we lost the licencing for that particular song, you have to return it"

If a song loses licensing will it disappear from the cloud all together and then the host would have to put it back on from their private collection? You download the tracks to your computer from what I understand. You just have to subscribe in order to be able to play them. Once on your computer, you don't even have to be on the internet according to Ryan.

Yes but somehow you "lose" them if you don't log in or renew your subscription. Does the cloud have different caches for owned music vs subscription music so that you don't lose it all is what I am wondering.

It's a subscription service like cable TV. When you pay your bill you have access to all of the channels. If you stop paying you lose them all. When you resume paying, you get them all back. And sometimes you lose a channel because the cable company doesn't carry it anymore.

Yeah I don't think (there I go again) you will actually lose the files if you quit paying, you will most likely just lose the ability to PLAY them until you re-subscribe.

Did I miss something? I thought that somewhere it was mentioned that along with subscribing, one of the advantages was you could use the cloud service to store your existing library. Maybe I mis-read what the "existing library" meant.

I haven't seen that - may have missed it as well, but having the ability to be able to store your files in the cloud wouldn't be a mandatory thing I wouldn't think, if that was the case, then it would be totally out of the question for my needs.

...I do believe that it was mentioned at the Live Summit that you could add and store your existing library. I have used Amazon's MP3 Cloud but only for new music purchases. Last week I started exploring my Google Account more. I noticed they also sell music and provide a cloud. I had some tracks on my computer and was able to load them on my Google Cloud but my files are still on my laptop. If I remember correctly, part of the Google Cloud service allows me access my cloud with up to 9 or 11 different devices at anytime, anywhere.

Maybe I mis-read what the "existing library" meant. I brought it up as a suggestion to them. As a value add for long term KJ's, allow us to OPTIONALLY store our libraires in their cloud for convenience and backup. -Chris

using the cloud for backup makes a lot of sense, and the cloud was as i understand originally though up for storing and having access to your own files anywhere in the world easily.
