I'm proud to announce that the iCroons.com site is now open for beta testing earlier than expected. You'll see an "Under Construction" sign, but at the bottom there's a link to click through for beta testers. The catalog is not yet complete, but we have about 400,000 songs catalogued now with over 90,000 of them instantly downloadable from our first two affiliates (selectatrack.com and karaoke-version.com). Comment below and let us know what you think so far...

just tried it out. Very nice. Depending on how much he wants to charge if anything I would probably use it all the time.

I have tabs in IE set to Selecta-A-Track and Karaoke-Version. I am going to delete them and use iCroons as the search tool for my shows tonight and tomorrow. If all goes well I am going to set up my other two hosts with it. Probably buy some credits at Select-A-Track and setup a PayPal account for Karaoke-Version.com. Use RoboForm to save password info and let them start buying Karaoke on demand for the shows.

I wouldn't pay a dime for it if it remains the way it is now. It's just combining the songbook databases with selectatrack & k-version databases, with just links to the actual site that you are going to buy it from, they don't sell the tracks - can do all that for free with a little effort - this is just nice because it's all in one.

If you consider Latshaw's previous post about verifying from Digitrax that karaoke cloud will be offering MP3+G downloads from American manufacturers, you know darn well karaoke cloud's entire catalog will eventually be catalogued on iCroons. Digitrax invited Latshaw to speak at their karaoke summit. How could the two not work together on this? If you combine the UK brands already catalogued on iCroons with the American brands to come, you've got most of the good stuff right there. Am I hoping for too much? I know I'm just speculating, but it would be cool.

Digitrax d/l's will be for home use only.

Whip dee do. Every music CD ever made says for home use only, but no DJ has ever been sued for playing them in public because they're covered under ASCAP/BMI public performance licenses paid by the venues. The only thing not covered under public performance licenses is the display of the karaoke makers trademark in public, and the only company dumb enough to ever try sueing KJs over that technicality is Sound Choice. I'm personally replacing my entire Sound Choice catalog with exact copies of their tracks from Karaoke Channel. Karaoke Channel bought the entire Sound Choice catalog of backing music, so they're virtually the same. Problem solved.

better read the Terms of service on KC....but hey who am I to say you cant take any risk you want...it is your business after all

10. Limited License



Provided that you are eligible for use of the Service and that you have validly registered to use the Service, Stingray grants you a limited, non exclusive, revocable license to access and make personal use of the Service and of the Products available through the Service in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, including the Usage Rules. You acknowledge and agree that the Products available through the Service are licensed, not sold, to you, even though we refer to "purchase" or "purchase price", and you acknowledge that the download of sound recordings shall not constitute a grant or waiver of any rights of the copyright owners in such sound recordings and the underlying musical compositions embodied therein. Any use of the Service or of the Products available through the Service other than as specifically authorized herein is strictly prohibited and shall terminate automatically the license granted herein.



11. Usage Rules



You acknowledge and agree to use the Service, including the Products available through the Service, in compliance with the applicable Usage Rules:



You agree to use the Service and the Products available through the Service for personal, non-commercial use only;

You agree not to register for an Account on behalf of someone else or of any group or entity;

You agree not to use, sell, rent, share, transfer, license or otherwise provide anybody with the Products;

Each Product that you purchase may be downloaded a maximum of 5 times, all formats combined, but you acknowledge that you cannot use a Product simultaneously in more than one location. The download links are maintained in your digital locker until you have reached your maximum download limit per link. Once the download limit has been reached, the link is deactivated;

Notwithstanding the foregoing, once you purchased a Product and you received the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy or damage the Product, and Stingray shall have no liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction or damage;

You agree not to use any data mining, robots, scraping or similar data gathering or extraction methods;

In the event that Stingray changes any part of the Service or discontinues the Service, which Stingray may do at its own discretion, you acknowledge that you may no longer be able to use the Service and the Products, or to use them to the same extent as prior to such change or discontinuation, and that Stingray shall have no liability to you in such case; and

You acknowledge and agree that you obtain absolutely no intellectual property rights in the Product that you download, including, without limitation, no synchronization rights whatsoever.

Stingray reserves the right to modify the Usage Rules at any time without notice.

What you don't seem to understand is that the Manu's that are suing people are not suing for copy write it is suing for showing their LOGO without permission. If you show a SC,CB,Karaoke Channel, etc. LOGO they got you. Even if you have the discs because they didn't give you permission and you didn't pay them to let you show it off something other than an original disc. Being that Karaoke Channel has no discs this is a no brainer if an investigator sees it as he will know there are no discs and thus have you.
While not all are suing some are, haven't you been reading all about it here?

you only have to wory if you buy them from Karaoke Channel directly. their TOU is for home use only, but the Select-A-Track TOU states "Licensing & Usage
All the tracks we supply are fully-endorsed by the manufacturer and are sold with their permission to use at home or commercially in any public venue worldwide (assuming that venue has the appropriate public performance license)."
buy your karaoke channel tracks there.

Would you really trust that?? I wouldn't trust anything owned by a Slep. Just because you bought them from Select-a-track, they are still KC. They are still a SC derivative. I'm sure they could say the same rules apply, and sue you anyway.
