From Latshaw Facebook Page -
"Our MP3+G downloads link page has been renamed to "Where to purchase Karaoke MP3+G & CDG music". I know the link below doesn't yet reflect it, but that's just a bug in facebook. You'll see we've added Sound Choice under a new category for "Karaoke CDG & MP3+G CDs". Currently, Sound Choice tracks are only available on physical CDs for commercial use here in America, but unless you just started being a KJ yesterday, you're quite aware that Sound Choice holds a great reputation as having some of the best background music tracks ever recorded. We were just approved today as a Sound Choice affiliate, and after speaking with the owner today for over an hour, we've got a verbal agreement to work with their tech people to get the Sound Choice tracks catalogued in the iCroons database with links to the actual discs on Sound Choice's web site, so when you find a song that's on a Sound Choice disc, you can link directly to purchase that disc. Until we get them catalogued on iCroons, we recommend using the Sound Choice link from our page. It enables them to track how many of their sales come from our customers, and the more sales from our customers, the more likely they will give us special deals we can forward to you in the future, and just like our other affiliates, the small cut they give us for forwarding sales goes towards supporting free services like iCroons. It's a win-win for every one."

Sounds like it's simply a "commission" on sales that are tracked back to latshaw ....
Nothin' earth-shattering.

I'm sure they're not the first affiliate, but the inclusion in iCroons is the thing that will be useful to me. I already know which brands are better than others, but it's nice to see them side by side and be able to choose the best for yourself and go right from there to buy it, regardless if its a download or a CD purchase. They're right about Sound Choice's reputation for great tracks and although its sad they're not able to offer downloads, I don't think it will discourage too many people from buying what they already know is good stuff. ...or at least I hope so. I'm sure we'd all like to see Sound Choice stay in business and start producing new music again, even if it is on discs. Anything worthwhile is worth jumping through a few extra hoops for.

So I guess I don't understand...
Now, I know karaoke exists outside of the U.S. - heck, the concept isn't even American. But why are SC tracks being listed on the website again - if they aren't legal to use for commercial purposes in the U.S.?
I would guess that a website like this would probably get 95% or more of its traffic from the U.S.. This is based on an unfavorable exchange rate as well as the propensity of American karaoke music manufacturers to sell their music overseas at a price much lower than here in the U.S. (which is why it's not licensed for commercial use in the U.S.).
Am I missing something?

this one seems a bit out of place. the site was to point towords downloadable content, going this route just makes it another KJ pro.

Technically the title on the site is "The Karaoke MP3+G & CDG Search Engine", so it does cover CDG discs as well. I think calling it another KJ Pro is a stretch. They're going to link to all possible downloads they can, but in the case of Sound Choice (who can't offer downloads), you can't just leave them out of the equation. I'd make a special exception for Sound Choice in a heartbeat. I think they did the right thing. Plus, it will be better than KJ Pro because KJ pro won't take you right to the specific page on Sound Choice's site for the exact disc you just searched. They said they're working with Sound Choice's tech people to implement this so it's obviously something new. It's definitely a step in the right direction.
