curious how many of you incorporate lighting into your shows? Whether its a spot light on the singer themselves or some simple led lights on sound active. Feel free to post some pics! We do not always us lighting but try to as often as possible

I do use some led pars, a jelly fish, and a micro galaxian.....mainly so we can turn off the overhead lights and people can still see....i think it enhances the atmosphere and encourages some of shy singers.Only takes a few minutes to set up as i keep them on stands.

I have two ADJ Scanners and a laser for the dance floor. One venue I play has par cans on the stage not visible to the audience but shine a light on a singer, giving them the spotlight. I'd like to have this set up wherever I go but I don't have the par cans and would have to mount them somehow.

I have 8 smaller par cans for the stage/singing area on an NSI 8 channel controller & the bar has a disco ball & some wall effects (fire & water) and a couple of intelligent lights that I just have set to sound activate - they are connected so they work in sequence.

I have a ton of lighting... floods, spin & pukes, controllers, truss system, and crank-up stands... all gathering dust in my garage. I just don't bother with them since I gave up the wedding reception / corporate party / birthday & anniversary rat-race.
However... I use three American Dj lasers during my karaoke shows... a Micro-Galaxian, a Micro-Gobo, and a Micro-3D. At anywhere from $100 to $130 each, they're cheap, small and easily stored, and add a bit of pizzazz to the atmosphere.
I see some of my competit... er... colleagues are starting to do the same thing.

You don't have a show unless you have lighting!

There are a few permanent shows around here that do it up nice with lighting. It is something I would like to do myself, but I have not made it a priority. I bought a DMX Controller board for one of my shows to control a single LED Flat Par and we have problems getting consistent control from it. My weekend project is to troubleshoot it.

Wish I had control of my biggest gig and the exclusive use of the stage...but I share it during the week and weekend with bands etc. I did bring in some par cans and lasers etc. Set it up very nice, but alas, my stuff was messed with over the weekend. I took it all down and just use bar lighting (which is very old and dated)

Lighting and karaoke really makes a party night awesome. It can really offer a great occasion to fit your mood. So try going karaoke bars to set your mood.

I think you'd be better off with simple back lighting against that wall instead of what you got. Too "busy" for me. But, I appreciate the fact that you believe in good lights!

...I've always believed in some form of lighting. Am currently working on an easier set-up for private parties requesting the "Grand-Slam" Lighting Package Deal. I really don't like the 10' Truss System anymore. Just takes entirely to much time to set-up.

Too many lights can be overkill and of course going to a new venue is always a mystery as to what footprint you have to set up in, tree is easier.
