What would these be used for? Those kiosk systems? Primarily. Although I suppose a kj could use it for their main screen and use the screen instead of the mouse - although those are pretty small for host screens.

(before it breaks down) They should last a good long time. I have some that were taken out of a drugstore photo kiosk and they're still running great five years later. And this includes them sitting in a closed truck in the summer in the boiling heat, and also in the winter where they would literally freeze. I have never had one die of old age. And you can download the drivers free for just about any model they have ever made.

We have been using/selling ELO touchscreens at my day job for many years.
Durable and the best of breed IMO.

I didn't have the money to pick up on this steal. But i have found another used touchscreen monitor that I could afford, but it has a serial interface. Do desktops even come with serial ports anymore?

Do desktops even come with serial ports anymore? The don't have to.. You can get a USB to Serial adaptor. Just install a driver and you're all set. I have this on one of my kiosks that has no serial port.

Be careful. If the monitor was designed to be used with a serial port, the manufacturer may try to file a law suit against you for "cable shifting". Just because you buy something doesn't mean you can use it any way you want to these days.
