It's not like I'm going to suddenly book a flight at the last minute to fly out to Vegas on Wednesday, but where did you hear/read about this?
I'll reserve my other comment for after I've seen an answer.

I imagine that since 1) it has not been broadly marketed and 2) we are only hearing about it 4 days before it is supposed to happen that it is not something they are really looking for people to attend. Sounds like an excuse for some execs to go to Vegas.

lmao @ suddenly booking a flight. I wouldn't either, I am heading out to vegas for the DJ convention there & on the agenda for seminars is their little class. American DJ in Vegas. I most likely will not be attending as I will be at other seminars of more interest to me, was just curious if any others were headed there. Surprised they did not market this more. If I happen to attend I will post some info

Clarification question: Would this indicate a combined venture ( SC & DT)? In other words, are the two companies planning to combine for a site?

Hard to say at this point, but they are hosting the seminar "together". I wondered the same thing when I saw it listed as them combined

I personally do not think they are combining on anything but the seminar good reason to take a trip to Vegas and be able to write it off Wish I wasn't booked solid Maybe they will broadcast it like they did "The Cloud" seminar.

Cueball, anyone is open to attend the DJ show. The seminars calendar is on the website, I simply clicked to view and there it was. Also, the fee to the seminar allows you to attend all and everything you want. So I guess they put as much advertising into it as everyone else .

A fellow KJ stopped by my show last night. He told me he was heading out to Vegas today and planned on stopping by the SC/DT event. he said he would record on his phone if allowed. If all of this falls in place I will get a recording online when he gets back.

So Sound Choice can't even afford to have their own booth at a trade show now? Wow.

rickgood wrote: So Sound Choice can't even afford to have their own booth at a trade show now? Wow. Interesting observation. Because if I recall correctly, most the suits talk about SC "spending 18 MILLION dollars" in the production of cdg's.... 25,000 sq. ft. building, 75 employees... yadda yadda Well, 75 employees and the building is one heck of a monthly expense that requires some pretty healthy profits to support... and then selling their catalog off for $4 million... yadda yadda... that's a LOT of moolah.... But then the newspaper reported a quote from Kurt Slep that he had maxed out his credit cards.... Where did it go? Because I can guarantee that shuffling around that much money on a regular basis -- even for a short time, I'd still have some left. I can certainly congratulate the Slep boys for what they built and accomplished over time and who could not be somewhat jealous of that kind of success? But from my "small scale view" I also cannot feel sorry for what also appears to be a LOT of waste, mismanagement and a disconnection from reality. I can applaud their success, but I can't feel sorry for their ultimate misfortune - they were the captain of the own ship and as such, could have "steered differently" to keep up with the times and give customers what they want(ed). Placing the blame and pointing fingers at others doesn't help you with your business at hand. In this day and age, it's not just "a great product" but it's a matter of convenience and giving what the CUSTOMER wants... not just what you think they should have and how they shall have it with your restrictions. If you don't keep up with what is wanted in your market, don't be surprised when someone smaller than you leaves you in their dust and don't expect the rest to feel sorry for you either. There is no more Eastern Airlines, E.F. Hutton, and a myriad of businesses that were much larger than SC when they too mismanaged themselves right out of business.

Went to a karaoke show last night where the KJ made a point of announcing that he had NO Sound Choice tracks in his system but he would play any customer's disc if they brought it in with Sound Choice tracks on it. I overheard him tell another patron that it just WASN'T worth the potential hassle from Sound Choice to include their material any longer. The show went very snoothly without any offending logos popping up on the screen. Problem solved.

I just put up a sign next to the kiosk. Problem solved.

Edit: I just wanted to add, that I do understand your stance on the no playing any SC tracks at your show (regardless of whether it is your original discs or a Customer's disc or Flash Drive).

Mismanagement is right. I contend that the reason for SC going out of business was due to the fact that they chose not to participate in the "Hits of the Month". They were months behind CB, THM & PHM in releasing the latest & greatest hits. Oops.

Im in California now, heading into vegas tomorrow. I have opted to attend other seminars instead of this one. Perhaps Chris friend will have some audio or shed some light at least. I will attend their booth and speak with them in person if they are out and about

Oops. I actually don't find that as a fault but a smart move to see which songs are going to be worth doing. Most of what PHM puts out has never been sung in my experience - ESPECIALLY lately, i've been a subscriber since Nov each month & had MAYBE 6 songs on all their new stuff since Nov sung. CB, I had a little more sung, mostly in the country side. The brand new stuff doesn't seem to have as much interest as stuff a couple years old or older.

Why would SC, with their current business model, need a booth? It isn't like they are making new music for existing customers or advertising for new customers.

Maybe they could have had a booth to audit hard drives on the spot? Print your certificate right out for you there on an inkjet printer. Missing a huge opportunity to add 7-8 more certified kjs Sound Choice.
