only had request for 2 of those songs Party Rock and Rolling in the Deep....have both on All-Star custom but yes I have had people ask for SC versions of those 2 songs...have to laugh and tell them SC never made them.

Guess it would have been more accurate to tell them that SC CANNOT make them.....

LOL, I don't get requests for those songs at all anymore. I do have them though. Party Rock is about the only one that gets done on occasion although they all did when they first came out, no longevity.

My singers rarely request a version and I don't even put the available versions in the book. I just list the song and we pick the best possible version for them unless they have a specific request. If we have it in Sound Choice, it's usually the one that gets played. The very best thing Sound Choice did was make great versions and that's a point that is hard to debate against. Having said that, my go-to now is Karaoke-Version when buying and they seem to be doing a great job putting out quality stuff.
So as to the point of most popular, yes it would be Sound Choice. But...
If I knew then, when I was putting $1000s and $1000s into buying all those SC and CB discs, what I know now, I would not have bought one disc. And if they did happen to put out more would I buy it? let's just say a lot would have to change.

At my weekend gig last week, I brought and extra laptop with me, set the home page to iCroons.com, and then hit F11 to go full screen with Internet Explorer.

I had 4 requests for songs that were not in my books. Two of the songs I have (my books are now 6 months old for this venue) and the other two I asked them to look up on iCroons.com. They confirmed they existed, then I looked them up and bought them from karaoke-version.com.

The singers loved it.

This week, I am going to set up the same thing only with a small monitor next to the DJ area duplicated from the search laptop so I can see the searches they make.

In a couple of weeks I am building out a Windows 8 machine with a touchscreen so they can search via touchscreen.

Some folks seem to live to dissect verbage, it seems...

Let's try both words to see if they are accurate:

SC CANNOT make them because they are no longer in production; can they make them in the future? ANYTHING can happen in the future, so no verbage, short of a dissertation, can be fully accurate.

SC DOESN'T make them...that is blatantly obvious because SC doesn't make anything. But does that tell enough of the story to someone who is interested?

Guess in the long run, the terms can be interchangeable under the circumstances...so let's not mince words......

Cannot and don't are not interchangeable. One means not having the capability to do something, ie I can't play pro football, the other means a choice, I don't want to play flaf football.

Words and their usage is very important even in this day of "net language".

Well they still produce their back back catalog, even if it's just represses or burning of new copies - it's still production. To say they CANNOT make any new music is not accurate either, they just DON'T at this time. They still have access to the studios, and most likely the studio musicians. Rumor has it from another forum they are in fact in the process of making new music, however I will believe when I see it.
So if you are going to tell a customer anything, telll the SC no longer makes new music at this time, but not that they cannot!

No mincing, just straightening out a twisted word that was applied.
Your welcome!

What opinion? To say they CANNOT make music is incorrect. They CAN, they CHOOSE not to at this time. No opinions necessary!

How about maybe they haven't got licensing for them yet, and if that is true, then they aren't SUPPOSED to make them- assuming they ever decided to produce new karaoke tracks again?

Would that mellow the discussion out a bit?

They could distribute porn movies as well – but they CHOOSE not to at this time.
They could make popcorn for everyone on your street – but they CHOOSE not to at this time.
They could pay HarringtonLaw more money – but they CHOOSE not to at this time.

and the list could go on and on and on…
